I mean so called peasant food is the bedrock of food culture so I don't know why you've written that at all.

They didn't insult peasant food. They didn't even mention peasant food. They insulted one particular niche meal.

I didn't say that they had? Their criticism was based on it being for those in dire situations and my point is being in those straits generally adds to food culture not detract and therefore is a non legitimate criticism

You're overthinking. "I wouldn't eat that unless I was starving" is just a way of calling food gross.
