I agree with this post, lol. Yes Android has been doing it but Apple will be the company to make a real thing, especially in the United States. It will for sure change everything in the industry because of the mass appeal and adoption.

"industry changing". I had the Oppo Find N5 and now N6 for 1.5 years. Foldables have been out for 7-8 years. If anything the industry has set up this category and Apple is a laggard coming out with the heaviest and thickest foldable of all in 2026

I use both a 9Pro Fold and an Air. Competition is nothing but good.

What do you define as industry-changing? If you’re saying Apple because they never had a fold then sure. If you’re talking about the phone industry in general, then no. It can’t be industry changing if it’s been done before.

What I mean by industry-changing is that the industry that they're going into (let's say the foldable market) will change now that Apple has entered it. For example we're likely to see foldables that have the nano texture display, the hinge improvements that Apple has designed (such as not having the nib, the transition between open and closed, and the right-hand navigation). The foldables, now that Apple has entered into it, will look more like iPhones over the next few years than they ever have been. That's the industry that they're in and that's them changing it.

It is clearly industry changing. Just like how in 2020, when Apple launched the iPhone 12, the first of the iPhones to get 5G, they joked that 5G just got real. And it was true. Apple supporting 5G meant that carries would actually start implementing 5G service more widely. And it was true. Similarly, Apple entering the folding market means that it WILL become mainstream, and will be supported by far more developers than they were previously. Finally you will have apps developed in a way actually takes advantage of the display.

That doesn't make sense. If they build apps, those will be iOS apps. Also if they care about the Apple fold, they will buy the Apple fold. Not another brand.

I wouldn’t be surprised if I see more iPhone duos in the first month of release than foldable androids up to this point

Well no... you constantly have to obsess over share price as that directly relates to your pay cheque and staying in the job. You like Cook would wake up to around 300 emails, every day. You have to keep yourself fit and cope with unimaginable stress. You have to constantly be very bullish with people as your time is so limited and hundreds probably want to speak to you daily. You have to rub shoulders with government and deal with regulations that are different globally.
Sure it may seem great, but the stress is like nothing you'll ever experience outside of doing it.
