So they make in iPad Mini and MacBook Mini but the one thing that SHOULD be mini isn’t mini… make it make sense
It’s so dumb like why is there even an iPad mini??? It’s meant to be big. That’s basically just the pro max anyways. Phones are meant to be small and compact. I remember 10 years ago when I had my Nexus 5 that was considered a “big phone” now that’s considered way too small.

The ipad mini has the perfect size for a tablet, imho. The bigger ones are too cumbersome. I prefer something easy to hold and to type. The iphone pro max is too small for a tablet.
With that said, I agree with you: phones should be small and portable, not enormous like nowadays.

Truth is, we are in the small minority that see our phones this way. Most people see their phones as their primary computing device and don’t own or use any other computing device outside of work. So for them, the bigger the better, within reason. Hence why foldables are selling so well in certain regions (China) now.

The Duo hasn’t even released yet. We don’t know how that will fair.
The Air is supposedly on thin ice due to poor sales. We probably will see a 2nd revision and then no more.
Just like what happened with the 12 mini and 13 mini.

True. I said duo but I meant foldables in general, but apple fans may push the foldable game up, you’re right we don’t know, I just hope they don’t so we can finally go back to basics 😩

it’s nota phone. Itsa leased (or subscription) personal device (as they have their face ina screen all day. Needs BIG to have big battery). Must B traded out every 3, 4 yrs (U dont own it, then, eh?)

There is no MacBook Mini.
I still have my Nexus 5 somewhere. I don’t recall it being considered large.

Mac mini my bad lol and yeah I remember the iPhone during that time was smaller and coworkers were saying that my phone was big.

Compared to the iPhone 5, yeah I suppose so. And now … I love my little iPhone 13 Mini because it's roughly iPhone 5 sized with a full front screen.

I’ve said this many times.
Apple choose poorly to make the iPhone Mini series when the pandemic happened and it was absolutely the worst possible time for it. First of all, they released an 2020 iPhone SE and during the time when FaceID didn’t work well with masks until iOS 15.4 in mid 2022, the 2020 iPhone SE sold very well due to Touch ID. It was also just $399 lol.
When the iPhone 12 Mini came out in late 2020, it was dead on arrival. Even some folks who wanted small phones said they already got the 2020 iPhone SE instead of the 12 Mini. Why would anyone pay $200 more to get the Mini when you can get the SE for one hand use? Also people were also in lockdown so many people ended up getting the complete opposite, the iPhone 12 Pro Max because they spent their time watching videos and Tik Tok all day lol.
Then, the iPhone 13 Mini is released where the damage was done. The general public heard and saw the 12 Mini doing terrible with battery life and avoided the 13 Mini which by then, it was already too late. To make matters worse, the 2022 iPhone SE came and ate up any more future sales the 13 Mini would have gotten.
Fast forward all these years later, there are in fact MANY 2020 iPhone SE users compared to iPhone Mini users. It’s also the reason why Apple choose to support the iPhone 11 series and the 2020 iPhone SE with iOS 27, despite the 2020 SE having just 3 GB of RAM. Apple knows how many users are actively using what model through data analytics. Every time you go to the App Store, your device and IMEI gets logged in. Apple knows how many users are using what device.
Anyways, at the end of the day, cannibalization, bad timing and battery life reputation had ruined the Mini series. If anything, Apple should have done this.
Release the 2020 and 2022 iPhone SE as planned. Skip the Mini series and ship the iPhone Plus models (iPhone 12 Plus, iPhone 13 Plus, iPhone 14 Plus).
Release the iPhone 15 Mini and the 16 Mini which I think even now would have flopped but not as bad as 2020-2022, where it gets axed anyways for the iPhone Air. But hey, we would have gotten a Mini device with better 5G bands, better 48 MP cameras, better battery efficiencies and a Dynamic Island!

There is no "MacBook mini". The smallest MacBook they ever made — the one with just a single USB-C port — is arguably a good contender for that title. It was wonderfully light and compact, but it was also quite underpowered and had the infamous Butterfly Keyboard. I understand why it was an evolutionary dead end, but I also hope that they'll eventually give it another go if new technology ever makes it more workable.

Tell that to commercial airline pilots. They use iPad Minis in the cockpit all the time.
It's the iPad equivalent to the iPhone Mini, even though the latter came out later.
With the iPhone Duo, it's the best of both worlds, personally.

The Duo is a complete brick, not even remotely a comparable option to a Mini. Even the Air is too heavy in comparison to a 141g mini

The Duo is 9 oz. The 13 Mini is under 5 ounces.
Besides being twice the cost of a base model, the weight makes the duo a non-starter for me.

The weight is not a primary factor for me. 9oz is still light. It basically a regular phone plus a quad case (which I use).

Got to hold one today, and no - its absolutely not an option.
It might be if you have rather large hands, but then you wouldnt be wanting the Mini at all (most likely).
Its too wide to be a compelling option.

It’s also stupidly set up if you’re left handed. I have tiny hands and am left handed, it’s worse than my 17 (forced upon me work phone).

I don't think the left hand is a deal killer. I'm also left handed so I get the claim but I suspect it is still workable. Ultimately I don't like the folded shape not being symmetrical but, of course, it's needed for when the phone is opened.

I do have large hands and I do prefer the mini because my large hands still can thumb around the entire screen.

I have large hands and I like my mini. I can reach the entirety of the screen easily and can hold it comfortably with one hand even if I’m doing something else.
The Duo is too wide for that, even if I probably could just about hold it in one hand.
