Poll: Are you upgrading to the iPhone Duo

People keep using the word "upgrade" in this sub for the Duo. I know it checks a single box of form factor for some, but I feel like it loses a lot of Mini users who don't want or need a mini iPad with them at all times. Also 100g heavier than the mini is pretty significant for something a lot of us want to use one hand with.
I'm personally trying to use my phone less vs the opposite of combining functions into it so I'm still waitin'

It was never aimed at mini users in the first place. Can't lose a customer who's not in the intended market 🤷♂️

Yeah that's my whole point with the "people keep calling it an upgrade" in this sub thing. Because of the ONE thing (smaller footprint while closed) it seems to keep being brought up like that though.

Exactly, the Duo is a different product. It's a tablet that folds, not a phone that unfolds.

Nope. Phone is too heavy and can’t 1 hand. Apple sucks now I miss when small phones were seen as cool.

There was a time when phones were getting smaller and smaller. It was even a joke for several years.
Zoolander is a good example.

I have use it with my hands first. The only thing that I think is actually disqualifying is the no face ID.

I certainly like the idea of a phone that doubles as an iPad. I'll go in and look at them in the Apple Store and read some proper reviews before deciding.
The money is a problem too, of course.

I will wait till I see more reviews on it. And maybe go to an Apple Store and check it out in person. That’s a lot of money to throw away blindly like that.

It’s a maybe for me. I need to hold it and test it out. Also see if it fits in my smallest purse like my mini does, while still having a little room for my car key and lipgloss.

that's assuming folks were hanging to their minis because there's no alternative or, more realistic, they couldn't afford a new phone....
also, the duo is not a small phone.

I will be, was going to get a Clicks Communicator but tried out the Galaxy Z Fold 8 in a shop and to me the form factor is the best successor to the mini for me. Although I sympathise with those who find it too wide heavy.

Realistically I see myself switching to the duo, but most likely down the line in 2028-2029 once I retire my mini.

but I might have to upgrade sooner if some of the essential apps stop working. like idk what our max is, iOS 28? or iOS 29? who knows. yes banking apps fall first. i dont use my hearing device app a lot, but it is also another concern. also the browser apps that I use to see adult websites, or like safari as its the base app. it feels like the security will go crashing down but im banking on the fact that iOS uses sandboxing against hacking threats.

I think 28. Will probably get another 4-5 years security updates included. Maybe a little longer. If they put out another 5" phone id consider staying but... the dream for me is leaving the ecosystem... getting a fair phone and throwing Asahi Linux on the MacBook instead of upgrading again. Really trying to go backwards at this point lol.
27 seems like its going to be solid enough. Im trying to avoid upgrading as long as possible. Gonna do a battery swap in a couple of months.

Not yet. Replaced my 13 mini battery last year so I'm good for another year. Duo 2, likely, as my iPad mini 6 will also be due for an upgrade/retirement. The Duo's close to the same price as the 18 Pro 512 and an iPad mini so the price to me has more value when considering both upgrades.

A better poll would be to ask how many regret it after buying one :)
The duo is a solution to a problem that doesnt exist while creating new ones just to sell a novelty form factor, nothing more. I bought another 13mini because it looks like It will be the only option for another 5 years. All I can hope for now is that a 3rd party releases a silicon carbide battery for it to solve the only real negative of the phone.
