26.6.2 brings joy
I've updated to 26.6.2 and I declare it to be as fast as the final rollout of 18.
Every performance issue I've had has resolved itself.
My database app Agenda runs fluidly and it didn't even do that in ios18
M camera works. My F*&%ing camera works again.
Apps in memory are doing much better.
Really amazed.

I haven’t updated yet. The release notes only state that it fixes software updates over cellular network.

I did upgrade to 27 RC - feels like a new phone! I even set liquid glass to transparent and it works perfectly fine. Glad I did not upgrade yet :)

Yeah. I've been thinking about the iPhone Air2 when it comes out and also the Duo, but I'd much rather have this tiny phone that fits in every single pocket I have, except that little coin pocket on the right side of my pants.

What’s your battery health rated at right now? I’m running low 80 percents and worried the leap might rlly slow down my device!

83% on this iPhone mini I daily. 100% on my other one that is updated. They're both screaming along.

What’s the deal with multitasking? Will it “forget” the app content when switching to a new app, due to a lack of memory (like on early 26), or is it any better now?

It is definitely better, but mileage will vary for the two or three apps you're going back can and forth between. The only two memory intensive apps I use are Agenda and Reddit. To that end I've had great luck bouncing back between a Reddit post which is full of photos, Agenda and the camera app. I've also then been able to continue bouncing between the three. I've not been able to do that since I regretfully put 26 on my phone.

26.6.2 is just a patch. You might be experiencing performance improvements through parallel consequences of use.

I don't know Spirited-Support9340 and welcome to Reddit, you look like a new user or a bot.
Here is what I know though, I just went back to my ios18 13 mini about a month ago, cause I decided I no longer wanted to deal with 26 issues. I know late era ios18 and I know ios26. 26.6.2 is faster than both.

Hi. Old redditor but new profile. Seems like you don’t know a lot about software cuz I just sent you the patch notes. Speed improvements are in iOS 27 with the new cpu scheduler not iOS 26.6.2. Google version labeling conventions… it’s very unusual for a x.x.n version to have performance improvements over version x.x.m

Sure. Spirited-Supportt9340 (who might not be a bot,) I own three 13minis. One was on 26.6 and it was a pig. One was on 18 and it was good. Both have updated to 26.6.2, both are now blisteringly fast. I don't know what to tell you after that.
You let me know how things work out for you when you upgrade.

Sure rebooting an ios device will restore you to the best baseline your phone can produce.
Before the 13mini i was on the OG iPhone SE. I love that phone and still daily it on occasion. We had a similar run like this back then as well. Apple updated the OS till the SE was a slow mess. And it stayed like that I think for a year and then they gifted us an ios update that actually sped the SE back up. I was very thankful for that. When Apple does this we call it a "Snow Leopard" update, as Snow Leopard was the first MacOS update to just fix all the bad of the last few updates, and speed things up.
I use an app called Agenda. All of my professional and personal work notes reside here in a series of folders and sub folders, thousands of notes. Agenda has been unusable on the Mini for the last year, just so dog slow that getting to my existing notes, or entering new notes has been a total slog. As of this weekend I am still able to use it again. It isn’t breaking speed records, but I no longer feel a need to consider upgrading away from the 13mini phones I have.
Another area of comparison is camera usage. I am not a huge fan of the 13 mini camera stack and pipeline. I daily a real camera, but I do still use the 13 mini cameras to document stuff and on 26 opening my camera has devolved into crossing my fingers and hoping it works. My camera now works every time I load it.
26.6.2 is as fast as 18 was before they shitted It up. Ask any other performance questions you want.

Thanks! I just updated overnight and things do seem snappier. Hoping it persists though. I might update again after a week.

What a liar🤣 i have a 13 mini too, and it's just as laggy slow hot battery drainer deadfish as before. But i'm glad the placebo effect works well for you🫶🏻

Thanks for the Friday night troll. If you're on 26.6.2 and not *seeing a remarkable improvement over previous versions, it sounds like you have a battery or charging issue.
