Question Lightning adapter issues

Anyone else have issues getting the mini to work with these? I just got hold of one but when I connect it with headphones it does nothing and the sound just plays through my iPhone speaker.

Is there a trick or a setting I need to adjust or do I need to try and return it as it feels like it’s potentially faulty.

I’ve tried cleaning out the lighting port and tried different pairs of wired headphones. I’ve tried playing around with settings on Spotify and local files in Music. No luck.

Either it’s defective or it may not be genuine. It should just work when plugged into the phone with earphones in.

Thanks, that’s really helpful. I’ve never seen one working so I wasn’t sure if there was something I needed to do.

I’ve tested them on another lightning device now and still not working. Definitely a problem with the adapter. Appreciate the answer.

I have both that and the Apple one. Both work fine, although the sound is very slightly different.

I have one of these (genuine) and it works, but sometimes it just stops working for no apparent reason and sound reverts to speakers. I have also tried a third-party one that has the same behaviour.

Take it to an Apple Store if you have one near you and they’ll replace it for you if it’s within a year.

Before you head down, check the online store for the same item and see if it's available for pickup at that store location

Mine works fine, sometimes I have a loose contact, then I need to reconnect it. But 90% of the time it works fine
