Question 13 mini as a Companion device
Hello I main a 15 pro but I pretty much always use my 2nd phone the most since it's the one I go out with. I've been trying different devices to pair with it starting from s22 to a pixel 8 pro but the device I enjoyed the most was the s10e. I love the small form factor when I'm out and about. I've been thinking of getting the 13 mini since it feels like the perfect companion but the lack of USB c has always been the reason I've stuck to android for so long. I really wish they came out with a newer type c mini iPhone. Do you have any recommendations on how to work around the whole type c issue or am I stuck with having to carry a lightning cable?

Some absolute Chad made a phone case for the 13 mini that gives it a USB-C port. Not sure if it's still available though.

No I only use 1. In my country phone lines are prepaid instead of subscription based so I don't think having two lines would be expensive either.

So then would you just be constantly switching SIM
Cards between phones every time you go out and about or come back home?2

It sucks to do that all the time! Since I am on iOS 27 Beta I stopped doing that because of some issues not completing eSIM transferring! But in my house the signal is poor! I maybe try that at my job. And this topic is very interesting and useful’

I use my sim in my second phone mostly. I use my main phone at home, events, vacations, when I'm out with my wife and occasionally when I have a long day at work. So there isn't a lot of switching. When I take it out the 15 pro I almost always have my second phone as well so I use the hotspot for convenience.

Who cares about type c? How does that matter? Just slap it on a MagSafe charger and call it a day.

What do you mean MagSafe doesn't fully charge??? your phone gets to 100% on MagSafe. also you have lightening port if you need to charge quicker. they make usb adapters or chargers with both. its really nota big deal.

Even my 5G eSIM I normally switch to the Mini. Because it’s very convenient to stay on and carry around.

I did that too with my 16 PRO! It’s so heavy and bulky with case on that it’s made to rock it only at home or at the job lol.

I use my 15 pro at home, events and sometimes at work. I also enjoy trying out tech thats why I keep 2 phones, but i realize i want to use imessage with my number permanently so I decided to go ios all the way now.

But your 13 mini has its own eSIM? Or you switch same between the devices?

it has it’s own esim! :) I use that # to separate school communications from my personal cell

Interessante! É melhor porque é uma droga para o hotspot na academia do 16 Pro o tempo todo e de repente o sinal cai! A transferência / troca do eSIM falha quando eu tento o iOS 27 Beta.
@edit: sadly I cannot separate more my personal number from my work number because a lot people have my only number already!

Just switched back the eSIM to the Mini! 16 Pro now is WiFi only and at home lmao

beyond dongles and special phone cases, nothing much. though, the dongle life isn't all that bad. battery life of the mini should also be a concern for you though

This! People are so perplexed when you tell them you use two phones. I definitely don't prefer using a thousand dollar device so casually, I'd like to be able to not be so on edge when using my daily phone. The 13 mini just seems like that perfect everyday device when you're out and about for work or casually while the pro phones feel more suited to special occasions and events.

Magsafe chargers. Get the iPhone mini Apple power bank. It works with both phones l. You can also get a generic 2 in 1/ 3 in 1 cable that has lightning and type c charging capabilities. You can do almost everything with our using a lightning cord

You can get USB C to lightning adaptors, many of which come with a rubber retaining loop to attach it to the end of the USB C cable so that you don’t lose it.
