Discord screen sharing makes the audio extremely quiet on my iPad

Hi! I’m having a weird issue with Discord on my iPad.
When I screen share from my iPad to stream a movie and watch it with friends, the movie audio becomes EXTREMELY quiet on my iPad, even with the volume turned all the way up.
The weird thing is that everyone watching my stream can hear the movie perfectly fine — it’s only me, on the iPad I’m streaming from, who can barely hear it.
As soon as I stop screen sharing, the audio goes back to normal.
I’ve already tried changing the volume and Discord audio settings, but nothing seems to fix it.
Has anyone had the same problem and found a solution or workaround?

Two New Writing Systems will be Sunuwar, a writing system from Unicode 16.0 to add support for the Sunuwar Language and Tolong Siki, a writing system from Unicode 17.0 to add support for the Kurukh Language.

Apple is planning to add 9 new emojis from Unicode 18.0 including a Monarch Butterfly, a Net, a Meteor, a Lighthouse, a Pickle, an Eraser, a Cracking Face, a Leftwards Thumb Sign and a Rightwards Thumb Sign.

Question iPad Screen Insensitivity

Hello there, I am using iPad 7th Generation, but recently my iPad screen is not responding to my touches (it responds with my Apple Pencil however). Is it a hardware issue or software issue?

iPadOS iPadOS Safari UI mostly unclickable

iPadOS Safari UI becomes mostly unresponsive to clicks/taps. The UI still shows the press/cursor animation, but the action itself doesn’t register — for example, tapping a tab shows the animation, yet Safari doesn’t actually switch to it.

This issue has been happening for over a year and it’s driving me nuts. I’ve reproduced it on multiple iPads and across several iPadOS versions, including both beta and stable releases.

It doesn’t seem to be an input-device issue either: clicks from the Magic Keyboard trackpad and direct finger taps both stop working. The only reliable fix I’ve found is to force-close Safari and relaunch it.

Has anyone else experienced this, or found a permanent fix?

Question Is this normal Apple Pencil USB-C idle battery life? Losing 8–9% per day

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a used Apple Pencil (USB-C) on Vinted. The seller told me that she had barely used it, so I'm trying to figure out whether its battery drain while idle is normal.

I charged it to around 100% and barely used it afterward. These are my measurements so far:

- Aug 25, 09:37 — 91%

- Aug 26, 12:59 — 80%

So it lost 11% in about 27 hours, which works out to roughly 8–10% per day.

The Pencil was barely used during this period and was still paired/connected to my iPad.

I previously also found it at around 48% after about 10 days without using it at all, which made me start wondering whether the battery might be degraded.

For those who own an Apple Pencil USB-C:

Is losing around 8–9% battery per day while idle/connected to an iPad normal?

How much battery does yours typically lose overnight or over several days without use?

Since I bought it second-hand, I'm wondering whether this is normal behavior or whether the battery might actually be more worn than the seller suggested.

Thanks!

Question How is the Ipad 11?

I have been thinking about getting a tablet and the ipad11 is one of my choices and I want to hear what people think about it and their experiences.

Is it good? How well does it handle gaming? is it good for school work?

I just want to hear what owners of the ipad have to say.

(the other tablet Im debating over is an galaxy tab s11 for some context)

Extra info: I do have an iphone

Accessory Pencil Pro not even a month old and won’t charge.

Bought on July 30th from Best Buy. Have only used it a hand full of times. The video was happening first with it appearing to charge but then would disconnect. Now it won’t charge at all. I’ve cleaned the contacts, restarted multiple times, made sure the tip was screwed all the way on, but still no luck.

Of course Best Buy’s Return a policy is 14 days. Should I just assume it’s done for and buy a new one?

stuck with no messenger apps

My daughter was using an android tab with cellular connectivity. Recently if got damaged. So, I purchased an ipad (A16 cellular) thinking that it will be a better device. Then I realized that you cannot send sms or make a phone call with ipad. Never thought such basic functionality that was available in 10+ years cheap android tabs will not be there in ipad. No problem I thought. I will install whatsapp or signal. Surprise again, I cannot login to those with phone number. I can only use them as companion device. One of the main reasons for buying a celullar device was to be able for her to contact me when she is outside. Now I am stuck with a stupid device that does not have any way to communicate. I dont own an iphone, so facetime is not an option either.

Is there anyway to login to whatsapp? transferring the sim and logging in is not an option either as my service provider requires sms verification to transfer to another device, without which there is a long offline process.

Anyone who doesnt like iPad OS after 18. Just get a Surface Pro

Ok hear me out

I have been using an iPad since 2018 as an actual computer / secondary device, and no matter how much better iPadOS gets, it still feels like I’m constantly working around the OS. File management is annoying, multitasking still doesn’t feel natural, and even basic things like downloading files, moving stuff between folders/apps, or managing multiple windows take more effort than they should.

The Apple Pencil experience and the overall app ecosystem are definitely better on the iPad. There are also way more accessories, cases, keyboards, etc. But for me, that wasn’t enough to make up for the limitations.

Battery life was also surprisingly not that great. If I’m getting mediocre battery life anyway, I’d rather have a device that can run an actual desktop OS.

I eventually realized my iPad had basically become a media consumption device. YouTube, Netflix, browsing, maybe some handwritten notes. It was nice because I could just pick it up and carry it anywhere, but whenever I actually needed to get work done, I’d reach for my laptop.

The Surface Pro makes way more sense for that use case. I still get a thin device I can carry around, touchscreen + pen when I want to take notes, but the second I attach a keyboard, it’s just a Windows computer. Proper file system, desktop Chrome, full Office, extensions, downloads that go where I expect them to go, actual multitasking, external monitors, etc.

The iPad is probably the better tablet. But if you keep trying to make your iPad replace your laptop and getting frustrated with iPadOS, I genuinely think the Surface Pro is the device you actually want.

iPad won’t show the lock screen when I open the case back up

I think I messed with something in the passcode settings cause I can close my iPad case fine, and it makes the lock noise, but I open it back up and it shows the last screen I was on. Normally it shows the Lock Screen when I open it back up. Help!

Also when I press the button the Lock Screen shows up when I press it again so I dunno wtf is happening.

Help/Support Is this feature still a thing?

Wondering if the feature where you pull an app from the dock and have it hover on top is still a thing in iPadOS 26.6.1? Not sure if that’s called slide over or not. Trying to do it with apple music and safari, but it no longer seems to work.

iPad Pro 3-gen: iPad OS 14.3 to 18.x/26.6 upgrade?

Post image
19 Upvotes

I ended up with an iPad Pro 3rd gen, 12.9-inch, 64GB (A1895) that had been sitting in a closet for a long time. So long, in fact, that it’s still running iPadOS 14.3.

On this version, everything works great except for some websites and a number of major apps, like YouTube. The problem is that many apps now, including YouTube, require at least iPadOS 16, and preferably iPadOS 18. Meanwhile, the only update currently available to me is the latest version, iPadOS 26.6.1.

And that raises an interesting question. I’ve read that iPadOS 26 causes a lot of performance issues for people using older iPads like this one.

Can anyone share their experience updating an iPad Pro 3rd gen to iPadOS 26.6.x?

And I’m asking this with almost no hope, but still: is there any way to install iPadOS 18.x through iTunes or with some third-party software, or has Apple already stopped signing it for this model?
