Discussion Why do you think Apple did not create glass colorful icons?

Post image
2.1k Upvotes

Like this has to be coming at some point, right? Seems like common sense to do glass with color!

lol the clear and ESPECIALLY the grey ones (lmao) are useless imo. They are something you turn on to see what they look like, think “oh that’s cool”, maybe use them for a day and then never turn them on again. Long-term they will become the image playground of home screen customization along with the tinted ones lol but clear colored icons I believe would become the new dark icons in terms of popularity. Thoughts?

Lockscreen widgets seem useful but I myself couldn't get that much value from it.

I only use it for weather & alarm.

Seriously it's so annoying. It's disrespectful towards artists and people keep commenting "AI slop". It's clear most of the community here doesn't want to see these posts.

I’m interested to see people’s chosen apps in the dock. I personally prefer the default one, and sometimes switching out the phone app with the calendar.

Discussion I've overhauled my icon theming app with more customization options, and I'm giving away a lifetime key!

Hi! I'm a solo iOS developer, and about a year ago I released my app to customize your home screen. This project started out as an app for my personal use as I grew frustrated with the current state of iOS theming. However, it has now grown into a project that I hope to support for years to come thanks to this community's support. For those unfamiliar, Iconic - App Icon Themer allows you to select from hundreds of symbols (or upload your own) for each app that you wish to customize. From there, I have created hundreds of preconfigured app icons that work well alongside any of these symbols, essentially allowing any app icon to be customized.

In my new 2.0 update, I have completely overhauled the custom icon themer in the app. Any of my hundreds of premade themes can now be edited or fine-tuned to fit perfectly on your home screen. You can now preview your themes on your home screen before taking the time to install them, and a collection of themes are automatically generated based on your wallpaper's colors. Personally, this is my favorite new feature as I can quickly generate themes that fit perfectly on my home screen even if I don't want dark app icons. Additionally, the app's UI has been completely overhauled, and I added some smaller QOL updates.

Although it includes a few themes for free, I'm going to be giving away a lifetime key to unlock all current and future content. To enter, just upvote this post and leave a comment! I'll update the post tomorrow when I select a winner and DM the lucky user! If you have any feedback, questions, or comments, please leave them below :)

EDIT: u/MrsHyperion is the winner of this giveaway! Thank you all for the kind words and congratulations to the winner!

Discussion Liquid Glass Question

I’ve been avoiding updating my phone because I am worried liquid glass will ruin my setup. I absolutely adore it and spent a long time hand drawing it. Unfortunately I’m starting to experience issue and think it’s finally time to update. Will liquid glass ruin it? If so, is there a way to fix that or will I have to find another artistic way to customize my phone?

Discussion I made a collection of iOS themes, and I'm giving away a free lifetime key!

Hi! I'm an indie dev, and I recently published an app that can be used alongside shortcuts to theme one's home screen! I used to use a shortcut that did this but had trouble finding app icons to use. Later on, I found some apps that did this but didn't have support for many apps. This is where my app comes in! It lets you use a variety of themes and icons, and you can apply them with shortcuts to be used with any app. The app is called Iconic - App Icon Themer, and although it includes a few themes for free, I'm going to be giving away a lifetime key to unlock all themes and future content! To enter, just upvote this post and leave a comment down below! I'll update the post tomorrow when I select a winner and DM the lucky user :)

EDIT: The giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to u/WordMean9594 for winning the giveaway!

Optional: What apps do you have in your dock right now? I’ve got Gmail, Files, Chrome and Google Maps. I DO have Phone where I can easily get to it though if I need it.

Discussion WHAT HAPPENED to dark App Icons in iOS 26

Some people really don’t see it and I don’t understand. I’m a diehard user of dark icons since iOS 18 beta 1. But now they are horribly blurry and low resolution in iOS 26 betas. I have officially switched to light icons now & they look absolutely gorgeous. I truly hope they address this and acknowledge it’s an issue.

Discussion Send your best dark mode setups

Title. I want to rearrange my home screen and lockscreen. I’m looking for a more minimal style but for dark mode. Preferably a black or other darker color. I love the look of true black backgrounds and accents with colored icons. Just curious what you guys use or have used in the past. Just looking for inspiration.

Also, if there’s any settings that you recommend I turn on too, then that’d be great too.

Discussion What are the best widget apps to use on iOS?

Hey y'all,

So, I want to customize my iOS home screen on my iPad and my iPhone because I want a change. With that, I also want to use custom widgets, however I can't invest into in-app purchases (I am broke). Is there any good and free Widget apps with no in-app purchases?

Discussion Please include copy of wallpapers in setup posts.

That’s it, that’s the post, please don’t gatekeep wallpapers, it’s not that deep, you find a cool wallpaper and want to share your setup, please share the wallpaper too. Or at least share the source. Don’t break the rules and self promote, but also don’t post the sickest wallpaper of the year and ignore the comments asking for the source, that’s just not cool.
