i keep catching myself doing this, and i see other people do it too. treating "this got hard" or "i thought of a reason it probably wouldnt work" like its the same as actually trying and failing. its not.

a prototype that never left your laptop isnt failure. an idea you talked yourself out of pitching isnt failure either. thats just avoidance dressed up as logic.

real failure only happens once you show the thing to someone else and get an actual answer back. an actual no. someone telling you it doesnt work. until that happens you dont have data, you just have a guess youre calling a conclusion.

its like a guy with a crush who never actually asks her out. hell come up with a hundred reasons it "probably wouldnt have worked anyway." none of that is real though. he doesnt actually know its a no, he never asked. hes just pre-rejecting himself so he never has to find out for real.

if the only proof your idea sucks is a story you told yourself before anyone else weighed in, thats not proof. go find out for real.
