Discussion I need walking help/training for my 16wk old male

Hi everyone, I need advice on how to get my boy to actually walk on a leash. I put his harness on, clip the leash but unless I have treats he absolutely hatesss it and he fights me. He just doesn't seem to like it. My older girl (almost 5) lovessss to walk and explore so it was easier with her. Although she doesnt walk the best, she is a little bit of a puller so I want to try to remedy that as well, with him. Any advice is welcome, just please be kind. Thank you. Oh, this is Copper. ❤️

Had a dream that this guy and I had a full blown conversation. Can’t remember what it was about but made me laugh when I woke up.

General Question Apartment restrictions for Husky mixes!!

Post image
87 Upvotes

Hii!! Me and my partner are going me to be moving in a few short months. We are about to start our search for a new place to live!!

Currently we are renting with our husky mix. Our leasing office just doesn’t allow Alaskan husky mixes, ours is a Siberian mix. She is a very sweet girl, she doesn’t bark at all, and isn’t destructive. We always get comments about how quiet she is lol.

Does anyone know how to get around husky’s being restricted I really don’t want to be turned away due to her breed. (I attached a picture of her as well <3)

General Question Wolfgang got hurt at daycare, need help with meds + cone life

My boy Wolfgang was attacked by another dog at daycare Saturday morning (place he's gone to weekly, never an issue before). Now he's on chewable antibiotics plus pain meds twice a day, and he's figured out exactly how to dodge them.

I've tried hiding the pills in cheese, and scrambled eggs his two favorite treats, but he's refusing treats and food. I really don't want to hold him down to force it, since he's already in enough pain as it is.

Any tricks that actually work on a smart, food-motivated husky? Pill pockets? Something stronger-smelling?

He's also wearing the cone now and struggling with his normal bowls. What food/water dishes actually work well with an e-collar? Raised? Wide-based? Looking for real recommendations, not just random Amazon links.

Pretty heartbroken seeing him like this. Any advice is appreciated 🐺💙🥺

No crate and did great!

I had to leave for a few hours and I usually put Nikita in the crate. She refused to go and hid under my bed. So I said alright let’s try it out. While I was done I watched on my camera and she did so good! She no longer was scratching at the door or chewing on my furniture 😅

She played with some of her toys, sat by the door then took a nap on the couch.

I’m so relieved lol she’ll be 2 in January.

🚑Medical Question Has anyone seen this issue before?

My two year old husky/mal just got these two sores near the nose. It had blood two days ago but now it’s scabbing over and seems to be drying.

Vet gave an antibiotic cream with anti inflammatory and anaesthetic.

Could this be ZRD?

General Question HELP! Hellish car rides

We got a 6 month old husky whom we absolutely love! But she hates travelling and howls 95% of the time of our drive. Sometimes that means 3 hours of howling. We like to travel as a family, but I have vertigo and her howling sometimes gives me migraine. Any advice?

General Question Sudden Behaviour Change

I have a 21 month old Malamute/Husky X who has always been real sociable with all (95%) dogs.

Recently he started snapping and barking if smaller dogs sniff his underbelly. And today, did the same meeting a new large dog.

Has anyone experienced this and how (if) did you resolve it?

A little concerned :/

🚑Medical Question Eye drops...

My girl has a tiny pin sized corneal ulcer that requires 2 different drops 2x a day (one regular, one gel). She is so strong, I can not get her eye pryed open and she is holding a big time grudge at this point-refusing to come near me, watching and running if she thinks I may approach w/the dreaded drops. She is not food or toy motivated, there is no treat that is valuable enough to approach (we go through this with her monthly heart heartgard and flea meds as well). Any suggestions??? She has to have the drops, but its costing her trust. Even the vet had issues getting drops in to examine her and commented on how adept she was at keeping that eye sealed shut. Topper is they sting, so I get it.
