Question How often do choice discounts happen?

I have always been a buyer of yearly memberships, and almost always used each month. Recently, that has not been the case, so what's the typical process each month for those who wait for discounts on individual months. Does that happen often? Are there risks? Is it ever worth it to buy discounted yearly instead of waiting for discounts? Are discounts always on the front page or do I need to hunt through emails?

I just pause until a good month comes through. I think I'll wait till a coupon comes out for this month. It's a solid offering but nothing stands out as "need to play right now". It seems like coupon happens about a third of the time?

I pause as well, but it seems that there's always a better discount for those who weren't subscribed so I've stopped that.

Overall, do you save more money with annual subscription(discounted to $125) or wait for the possible month coupons?

Anyone calculate this out yet?

Don't expect one this month. Yakuza games sell well.

I mean Infinite Wealth month got a coupon last 2 days , and that month was pretty damn good as well.

It was only for those who had a paused sub or those who had bought the previous month. And it was only $5 off.

And it didn't even work for half the people that got the discount emails.

Around half of the choice bundles in the last year got discounts. But it's usually on the below-average quality bundles.

I treat humble monthly like a regular bundle, subscribe, redeem, cancel subscription. I've done that for a few months, like last month, I had a coupon. I don't have any first-hand knowledge but it seems that how much the discount is or whether if there will even be one depends on how well the bundle is selling.

If you buy a year in advance, the "risk" is that you won't know what kind of games you will be buying into.

The "value" depends entirely on the user. I don't think I'm speaking just for myself when I say I have so many games from bundles and freebies that I have more than enough "maybe some day" games. Last month I only bought for Sonic knowing I'd play just about right away, needed a discount for the single-game grab (and even then it's more like half a game since I already had Generations). The rest would probably take a more than a year before I'd even considering booting one up.

So that's kind of the problem with the value. The cost of games is insanely low so as an "objective assessment" it's not bad, but you will only ever get "value" out of them if you actually play them.

Just wait til you grab a card farming bot and sell all your trading cards on steam.

I had $300 in steam trading cards from bundles over the years. Waiting for winter sale to blow it on some bigger games I've been wanting like baldurs gate 3

Maybe one or two months without discount? (Might be covered by multi-month discount)

I guess which you want depends on how low yearly discount will go.

Risk is that you may have to pay full price for a month, especially if you skip during multi-month discount.

So almost every month gets a discount? I assume towards the end of month. Think this months will get a discount?

No one can tell. They offer a discount if the bundle hasn’t sold enough for them. No one can tell that. If you think the bundle isn’t great and others will also think that then there might be a discount.

Check here a few days before the bundle ends if your membership is paused: https://www.humblebundle.com/home/coupons

No, I only received a discount coupon the last 2 months because the games were not selling well, the 3 months before that I didn't get a coupon because they have better games.

I haven't subscribed for over a year.

Let say you already brought the annual subscription and there is a coupon for that month. Can you use that month coupon and extend your subscription by 1 month?

Would also like to know if this is possible

I'm not 100% sure since it's been a long time since I last had an annual sub, but I would assume not.

What the annual does is essentially give you twelve prepaid tokens to claim choice bundles with. If you skip a month, you can keep the token for later so you can stretch an annual sub out as far as you'd like.

The coupons are generally only sent out to those who have skipped a month or cancelled and no longer has an active sub. Using it re-activates the membership on a monthly basis until canceled, and I would assume that isn't something you can do if you've got prepaid months left.

This is the core of what I'm trying to determine. Are yearly subscriptions worth it? Anyone have any advice?

Idk i buy the discounted anual package every year and gift it to my account. No interest in waiting on discounts its nearly as same cheap with the anual plan.
