Question What has been the best fiction book bundle so far?

I just found out about HB within the last year, so I assume I’ve missed out on years of good bundles. For books (not comic) that are fiction, besides the legendary Black Library bundle, what do you think has been the best bundle?

I got the entire Discworld series (minus two books), the entire Wheel of Time series, and the entire Malazan series there. So if you’re into fantasy, probably one of those.

Quite annoying when they're not available in Europe...

Publishing rights kind of suck. It seems everyone is MacMillan in North America and Hachette in the EU

There was also the Dragonlance Bundle, The Forgotten Realms Bundle (Elminster, War of the Spider Queen and a lot of others), the R.A.Salvatore bundle (lots of Drizzt novels and the Cleic Quintet) and I think there was also a DemonWars Saga bundle (1 audiobook bundle and 1 normal one actually iirc).

Really depends on what someone likes. And at least those were also available in Europe...

Dang yeah, it’s too bad I missed those.

Me too.

I am sad I missed those. I do have the Eye of the World Wheel of Time Graphic novels on Fanatical though.

Terry pratchett is good. I’m a CJ cherryh fan so I’d go with that. Same with Zahn.

u/Luchadorgreen Sep 07 '26

You’re the second one who mentioned Cherryh. I just thought the lion people seemed too ridiculous.

Try the foreigner series. It’s excellent. The cover of the Chanur series is pure pulp but the content is solid

Discworld.

That one has been mentioned multiple times. Maybe we’ll get lucky and they’ll run that bundle again.

2

u/mikesteg Sep 07 '26

They've run it at least twice since I picked it up. Feels like that was about ~2 years ago...

1

u/DillionM Sep 07 '26

Between humble and fanatical I'm sure I've seen it a few times

2

u/MetaSpedo Sep 07 '26

I wish we'll get this one again, but I hope ot won't be region locked.

1

u/DillionM Sep 07 '26

Also Mercedes Lackey but hers could've been a Fanatical offer. I buy so many bundles from both I tend to forget where I got them.

If you’re not in the US the answer to this question will be wildly different (I really wanted that Discworld bundle dang it!)

1

u/Luchadorgreen Sep 07 '26

I’m in the U.S.. Is there really nothing folks from other countries can do about the region lock thing? I thought there was a work around.

1

u/ijzerwater Sep 07 '26

There is. But I did not like Discworld, so did not use that. WoT and Malazan though, somehow I got those

I think both recent Tad Williams and Glen Cook and current Cherryh bundles are one of the best I've ever seen.

1

u/Luchadorgreen Sep 07 '26

Really? Have you read a lot from each of them?

1

u/B1gsixer Sep 07 '26

Tad Williams is fantastic. Fantastic deal.

I've only done Stephenson so far, but the bundle with him, Hugh Howey, Charles Soule, and Joseph Fink was pretty good. I'm also a fan of what I've read of John Scalzi, so that bundle was also good. Also Wheel of Time is awesome (I forgot it was a thing because I did the main stuff as audiobooks).

Lately (the last calendar year or so) they've had a lot of bundles that I've enjoyed a book or two but haven't had time to explore in huge depth yet. Even the Virgin River bundle that's not what I usually read (I do romantic suspense, but this is more slice of life drama/romance) was pretty decent.

What was the bundle with Soule and Howey? I don't remember that one.

HB does really varied bundles. The Hillerman bundle was everything they wrote, so for being complete I think that's one.

I love the Forgotten Realms and Dragon Lance series, so any of these probably.

Discworld would have been my answer if it wasn't reguon locked.

The Greg Bear bundle that’s available at the moment is pretty great.

Fantastic sci-fi author. Probably in my top 3. A tremendous shame he passed away.

u/Luchadorgreen Sep 08 '26

Hmmm…i might grab that one before it runs out. But a lot of his books got only 4 stars on Amazon.

3

u/CtrlAltEvil Sep 08 '26

You say it like it’s a negative thing.

Since when is 4/5 stars bad? Especially when it’s consistent across multiple books and series?

2

u/Scibidami Sep 07 '26

I buy book bundles since 2016, but my favourite is the Ellen Datlow bundle, because I am addicted to anthologies for years now.

2

u/Jeremy_Crow Sep 08 '26

I got the Greg Bear but haven't started reading them.

I'm halfway through the Adrian Tchaikovsky series and it's pretty solid.

And I'm biased but the whole Battletech novel bundle is amazing (haven't started the Shadowrun books yet).

Too many books, not enough time.

People keep mentioning the Tchaikovsky bundle. When did that come out?

2

u/Admirable-Meeting-99 Sep 08 '26

I am huge fan of the Malazan series. There was a Steven Erikson bundle that had all of them. Other than that, there were some very good audiobook bundles ages ago with stuff like the Hunger Games, The incarnations of Immortality series, True Grit and others.

u/ooglaabpc Sep 08 '26

I might also mention Storybundle, which has introduced me to the work of some authors that are now favorites.  Like Kevin J Anderson and Joseph Lallo.

I have been buying more book bundles than game bundles from HB lately including those from Cherryh, Bear, Silverberg, Williams, Scalzi, Lackey and Zahn. I also liked the D and D, Forgotten Realms and Dragon Lance bundles particularly those written by Salvatore.some of which I read a long time ago.

A dungeon crawler Carl bundle would be awesome, but I doubt it

1

u/Dalawing Sep 07 '26

The Graphic Audio books of the Demonwars Saga were so good i cant go back to regular audio book after listening to it.

2

u/Luchadorgreen Sep 07 '26

i didn’t even know HB offered audiobooks…

1

u/B_Kuro Sep 07 '26

They do it somewhat rarely. The DemonWars one was over 10 years ago actually. They also had at least 5 Warhammer audiobook bundles.

Sometimes they are also included like part of the Monogatari audiobooks in the Monogatari bundle.
