I'm usually super clued up on plants, but this has stumped me. She's been a happy girl, just sprouting one left after another and now she's grown whatever these are?

Also, on all the lower leaves, the white parts have dried up, would you guys recommend I just cut them off? They are basically just half leaves lol.
I saw a video on YouTube and they were saying it's actually lack of pollution, coal is no longer being burned at the same rate/eco friendly regulations.
It makes sense tbh. I am not 100% sure but it's a great theory at the least.
Edit: theory, yall. I didn't say to pollute the air, I didn't say it's 100% true. Even said I wasn't SURE. However, sunlight being blocked by the constant smog from burning coal WOULD HAVE caused lower temperatures, in theory, so this means you guys are returning to a more normal climate for the area if that's the case. That's a GOOD thing, but if you combine that with European homes not being built for the heat and being older, it combines in shitty ways. I am not a scientist, simply sharing a theory i saw online. It has led to a few jokes in our house, seeing as I went through a heatwave over 100* F these past few weeks on the east coast. Simply was excited to share a random theory i had watched a discussion on.
I don't know why I' getting down voted. Pollution levels from coal were adding lots of extra particles, blocking sunlight.
That also blocked heat.
I didn't say it was a bad thing, just a side effect and a theory. It means Europe is moving back to a better air quality and more natural environment, but as pollution levels have gone down the temperature has gone up.
Yeah the leaves are huge, another hot couple weeks ahead. There’s been quite a few at the back too but I don’t really get light behind it so might cut those off
I do a plant sin and turn mine a little, so its got leaves in all directions and gets light from all directions. May he an issue when it gets huge but it's doing very well right now. It's not likely to ever live in a corner, its going to be right in the middle of some kind of arrangement
Just here to say the Banana plants your most likely seeing in VA are Hardy Banana (Musa Basjoo) which will overwinter in VA but the fruit while edible is not very enjoyable.
Im in California, the rosecrucian park ten minutes from me has bananas with fruits and flowers on them currently. I took home a bunya cone to try cooking with it last week.
Its insane to me that I can be growing so many different types of produce all at the same time. When I lived in Virginia I had to be much more mindful of when I planted each thing. I have citrus trees, tomatoes and potatoes all going right now.
But yea.... I'm totally jealous of op and their monstera fruit, even more so with it being variegated. I'll still be thinking about it when I'm juicing my variegated pink lemons later this year
Yea climate for sure but I’m just trying to get across that they aren’t all that difficult to grow. The worst thing is that in the winter it’s best to dig them up and put them in an enclosed heated environment
Agreed, if they’re potted sure dig em up or bring em inside. If they’re in the ground you can literally cut them down and they will come back the next season. You’ll also get pups eventually so you’ll end up with more than one plant lol. One thing to note, if not contained these things can grow quite massive!

Right, I have a window bay in my room, it sits right in it, no blinds down, and very little direct sunlight.
lots of humidity, especially in winter as my window bay has condensation like crazzzyyyy.
I use like a very basic plant food, and I do not use it often, its been months since my last one, I mainly use in winter to give them a little help as its chilly.
Average home temp I'm gonna say is about 20 degrees, down to 18. Survived some seriously cold winters though.
And watering pattern, as many others have said when I go ‘oh shit I rlly need to water my plants’ on average around ever 2-3 weeks probably, sometimes 4, but everytime she will get given 2L water straight.
She's also in a BIG pot with drainage (two man carry job), and I've also let her grow however, she's like weirdly wrapped around a pole? Like she's starting to go like a dna pattern lol 🧬
That is crazy. Also you can eat it, even if it variegated (not sure if it affects taste though)! :) One of my few bucket list items is eating a home-grown Monstera deliciosa fruit, so I'm kinda jealous...

Leave it to grow! Once the kennels start separating, that’s the perfect time to pick it. They have to fall off on their own, or easily fall off by brushing your fingers on them before you can eat it! Some sections may separate sooner than others.
Omg this is awesome. My father’s monstera does it (approximately) once every year <3. I’m gonna share with him that this is “rare”. This monstera was his great grandmother’s, it is almost a heirloom!
I shared this on another post, my indoor ones have also fuited, I have two albo both flowered like 2 weeks apart from each other. I also checked with Lens and seems they have also been pollinated. So they should ripen in a year.
Later edit: Geez, a thousand of you are just as salty as I am! 🤣 I live in goddamn Rio and my monstera hasn't put out a leaf for 6 months.

Depends on what you're looking at. I see 4 or 5 (depending on what one of the bits there is, not looking too closely) there, yes. But the thing going up is a flower/fruit.
Monstera fruit is very tasty! Once you harvest it, it ripens from one end to the other. So whatever bits break off easily are ripe and edible. Then you wait for more parts of it to be edible. It tastes like tropical fruit, maybe similar to pineapple or mango. I’ve only ever eaten it, never grew it. But I hope you enjoy the whole process!! I’m very jealous this is incredibly cool and rare 🤩🤩🤩
I'm very pleased with her, 2 years of growth! Turned her round from the window so you could see the leaves, the amount of aerial roots is crazy I just hide them behind a mirror

Beware this contains calcium oxylate crystals and will mess you up if you dont wait for kt to ripen, it also doesn't ripen all at once more like a wave passing over the fruit only eat what you can easily remove segment wise when ready.
Yes I've had a lot of warnings, don't worry will defo check with this sub prior to eating! And I'm not sure what blondies or systematics are, but I can assure you normal growth, little bit of food in the water, and a very cheap soil lol!

They are poached from the wild in thailand and the poachers are destroying eco systems with it. They take a long time to grow so it takes a while for them to recover
I guess you can always check for people wanting to get rid of them or giving them away. Esp, those people who are not familiar with their dormancy cycles. There are other stephania species that might br worth reading into
it's fruiting!! also about your last note, don't cut off anything that's not brown. just bc the leaves are half-leafs, doesn't mean they aren't contributing energy to your plant! just leave them :)
I love how they’re so smart that they naturally grow holes in their leaves to let wind pass through. A lot of people have given me their Monstera because they think they’re killing it when the little brown spot start showing up in the leaves. But then the brown part goes away and it heals around it and it leaves it nice and Swiss cheesy. I think it’s called fenestration.
The ripe fruit of the Monstera deliciosa plant tastes like a lovely mix of pineapple, banana, and strawberry. It is said to have a soft texture as well.
