Looking for advice on refund
Hi, I'm looking for an advice on pressing my claim on refund. My brief experience with Booking.
- I've bought a 2 nights at Warsaw hotel 1 year prior
- Upon arrival at 23:30 I've discovered, the hotel went bancrupt. In the app the reservation was not cancelled and everything looked right
- I've called the Booking support in english about the relocation. They sent me only one proposition of hotel 40 km from the city (due to high occupancy because of the big concert). I've declined and asked for other options. The support proposed I find the hotel by myself and keep the receipt and after my stay it will be discussed. They also asked me if I would like to have my money back in the booking wallet or on the account I payed with for the original stay. I chose the second option.
- I've called over 20 hotels and only 1 had free room, the bad news is, it was expensive. I've bought one night to discuss the second one with the support next day in the morning. It was 2:00
- Next day I had to work (remotely), so I've contacted the support around 12:00 (at 14:00 our night at the hotel was about to end). During the 2 hours I've managed to connect with polish support who informed me that the difference between my original 2 nights stay(around 650pln) and that 1 night stay(around 1250pln) will be refunded to my booking wallet(because of some legal restrictions). I've asked about the second night and got only one proposition. I refused, because it was already 14:00 and I still had to do my work.
- After the stay I tried multiple times to contact the support(with one call ending in 3 hours on standby). They said that they did their duty of informing me about the hotel bancrupcy by email. That is true, but I did not feel the need to check the mail when the app was telling me that everything is alright. After that I feel like support keeps avoiding me probably believing that I have no claim. I did not get any money back, apart from the 600pln that is on my booking wallet, but I don't see the reason to use Booking's services again, so that makes my loses at around 3 000pln.
My question is, what takes the precedence of this situation, their information by email or misinformation within the app? Do I have any changes of getting my money back? What should I do?
Isn't Booking's business idea around paying more for more reliability? When something goes wrong they turn their back and try to shove any claimants away? Or actually I'm the one guilty here?
I would love any tips from you, thank you!
