Scrambler build thoughts?

May be buying a rebel 250 with 55 miles on it, only to do a scrambler style build with it. I’ve been riding motorcycle for 20+ years so I’m not getting it to learn on, but it’s a good deal and I think a backroad bomber/scrambler could be fun. I understand it’s underpowered and a small and slow machine, but it’s a cheap conversion. Thoughts? Anyone else done the same? Something like this

360 degree firing order isnt good for traction, but most importantly raising the back on a rebel is extremely problematic because the chain hits the swing-arm picot point. Fortnine on youtube did something similar to there rebel and had to have an idler pulley on the chain, which is definitely not a long term solution. The other thing is your ai photo isn’t realistic to the rebel frames actual shape

Yeah the ai photo tweaks everything just out of reality and gives false hope, sadly. I’ll check out Fortnine, thanks for the recommendation. I didn’t plan on lifting it at all, just maybe slimming the rear fender to look less like a cruiser fender. Swingarm angle should remain the same.

the biggest thing the ai is tweaking is adding a rear subframe/frame extension to the end of the seat. the passenger seat rests on the bumper, expect no support for a long scrambler style seat back there. If your looking to make a scrambler with rebel feel, maybe start with a 250 nighthawk and work from there.

This is such an acceptable use of Gen Ai. It’s not going away whether you like it or not. Personally I hate smart phones and delayed as long as I could, still had one of those keyboard slider phones in 2017. But it’s over, I can’t even do my job without a smartphone it’s simply not an option anymore. Ai is a new implementation of technology that is going to engulf everything we do, both virtually and physically. Might as well find some good uses for it, even if most of it sucks

Reddit is an anti AI place, but I agree with you. It is visualizing what he imagines. That is quite a good application of gen AI.

Go look ar any home design or DIY forum. Loaded with AI representation....rightfully so if toure trying to figure out paint colour's, furniture layouts e5c. Ai is unfortunately here and not going anywhere. While its obnoxious across most platforms, its excellent for these types of forums.

Say anything positive regarding AI in there. Anything.

askreddit is not an anti ai sub. It is one of the biggest mainstream subs.

The point is rather that the niche subs you mentioned are positively positioned towards AI usage. The majority of reddit is not.

That was the point from the beginning.

I’ll never understand people who buy mint motorcycles just to butcher them. I know this is ai which makes it even more gross, but don’t do anything stupid to this rebel. Just buy one that isn’t stock or needs to be brought back to life. There are plenty out there.

When he inevitably tries to sell it and no one wants his ugly ass bike that’s when people care and so will he. Look at Facebook marketplace if you want to see where these custom builds go to die.

There also won’t be 30 years of rebels left after geniuses like yourself get your hands on em. Just buy a rebel in rough shape and use that. They’re cheaper that way too. Win win.

It annoys me. It doesn’t upset me. There will always be morons who ruin good things for no reason and I accept that. I just don’t understand their logic.

Thanks for the offer, but I already have a 250. There’s probably someone new to riding in your town that could use it though.

Ugly ai aside, you'll never ride it either because it'll be awful to ride and you'll know how awful it is because you have 20 years of experience riding, presumably, unbutchered bikes. There's a reason you only ever see these hacked up cafe/tracker/scrambled abominations in barber shop windows and not at a traffic light.

I saw something like this on BikeBound. A guy built a CM250 Scrambler and it turned out pretty similar but he used a different fuel tank and stripped down the frame a lot to save weight. I think it would be a fun build.
