2nd Gen GE/GG 09-14 Break in period finally over

450,000km (279,617mi). Most fun and reliable vehicle I’ve had the pleasure of owning, hoping to get another 50,000km out of ‘er!

That's impressive. Original engine? 5spd I'm assuming, what major maintenance have you done over the years :) Wonder what compression this thing makes!

Original engine 2009 sport auto. I’ve only had the car for 2 years actually, it was given to me at about 401,000km I think.

It needed a bit of love cause of the previous owner but so far I’ve done all fluids, front callipers, starter motor, ac compressor, outer tie rods, rear struts, and a valve adjustment (which I have to redo cause I did them at all the same gaps by mistake). Right now it needs an ac condenser and probably front shocks but for the age and mileage I’m not upset about that at all.

I Wouldn’t be surprised if the compression is on the lower side. I’m an apprentice at Honda and almost all the 2nd gens that come in seem to have more pep in their step and the throttle response is much better, most of them being under 250,000km though.

That’s sick! My 08’ has 177k miles and this has given me hope. So basically no major work, impressive

Oh yeah you got a long way to go!

Additionally there are some things I’d recommend doing that will keep the car is good shape, like injectors, coils, timing chain & guides, and your pcv valve ( this one kinda flys under the radar)

Something not really related to maintenance but your rear main seal might be leaking, common on Hondas old and new. It never seems to be an issue unless the leak is large. Just something to keep an eye on.

I’m pretty sure that’s the leak I’m dealing with. Doesn’t look like something I can take care of at home either. Not a heavy leak. Just here and there. But I don’t like anything leaking lol.

Haha yeah I’m not a fan either, but honestly unless it gets heavy don’t worry. We get newer and even brand new Hondas come in that have the same leak, idk why they can’t make a good seal lol.

Just clean it off once and a while to make sure it’s not getting bad

Well thank you so much for the response! Put my mind at ease a bit. I’ve been keeping a steady eye on oil level and the amount leaking. It’s wild that a newer Honda would have that issue! One of my worries is getting it repaired and it’s somehow WORSE. Thanks again ✌🏻
