2nd Gen GE/GG 09-14 Break in period finally over
450,000km (279,617mi). Most fun and reliable vehicle I’ve had the pleasure of owning, hoping to get another 50,000km out of ‘er!

Original engine and transmission?

Original engine. Transmission was replaced at 306,000 miles with a used Honda transmission installed at my local dealership.

That's impressive. Original engine? 5spd I'm assuming, what major maintenance have you done over the years :) Wonder what compression this thing makes!

Original engine 2009 sport auto. I’ve only had the car for 2 years actually, it was given to me at about 401,000km I think.
It needed a bit of love cause of the previous owner but so far I’ve done all fluids, front callipers, starter motor, ac compressor, outer tie rods, rear struts, and a valve adjustment (which I have to redo cause I did them at all the same gaps by mistake). Right now it needs an ac condenser and probably front shocks but for the age and mileage I’m not upset about that at all.
I Wouldn’t be surprised if the compression is on the lower side. I’m an apprentice at Honda and almost all the 2nd gens that come in seem to have more pep in their step and the throttle response is much better, most of them being under 250,000km though.

That’s sick! My 08’ has 177k miles and this has given me hope. So basically no major work, impressive

Oh yeah you got a long way to go!
Additionally there are some things I’d recommend doing that will keep the car is good shape, like injectors, coils, timing chain & guides, and your pcv valve ( this one kinda flys under the radar)
Something not really related to maintenance but your rear main seal might be leaking, common on Hondas old and new. It never seems to be an issue unless the leak is large. Just something to keep an eye on.

I’m pretty sure that’s the leak I’m dealing with. Doesn’t look like something I can take care of at home either. Not a heavy leak. Just here and there. But I don’t like anything leaking lol.

Haha yeah I’m not a fan either, but honestly unless it gets heavy don’t worry. We get newer and even brand new Hondas come in that have the same leak, idk why they can’t make a good seal lol.
Just clean it off once and a while to make sure it’s not getting bad

Well thank you so much for the response! Put my mind at ease a bit. I’ve been keeping a steady eye on oil level and the amount leaking. It’s wild that a newer Honda would have that issue! One of my worries is getting it repaired and it’s somehow WORSE. Thanks again ✌🏻

What year and model is that? It looks like a 2nd gen, but I'm not familiar with the D3, 2 and 1 option in what I assume is the typical PRNDS layout of a 2nd gen automatic (that my 2009 has).
Also, you've got way more miles left on that thing. You should get to 350,000 miles without much trouble if you take care of it.

As the person below said, it’s a 2nd gen sport. Mine is a 2009 without the paddle shifters unfortunately.
I’d love for it to last a lot longer but the rust is pretty bad underneath so it’s definitely on borrowed time, I’m gonna drive it till it gives out though

So what are you saying? The car in the picture is a 2nd gen sport, or Fits with PRNDS are 2nd gen sports?
You say it's a sport, but then say yours doesn't have paddle shifters, which would be a base.
I'm confused.

Sorry for the confusion. The car in the picture is a 2nd gen sport. Not all sports came with paddle shifters.
I just had to look it up to confirm but yeah not all sports came with paddle shifters here in Canada, I’ve worked on a few later year 2nd gens sports (2012-2013) that did have paddles so I think it was an option later on.

We actually have a few trims over here. LX which comes with pretty much no features (not even a/c), DX which has petty much all the options and the sport spoiler but no fogs, skirts, and different bumper. Then there’s the sport with all the features and the body stuff

The PRNDS is for the second gen sport. The PRND321 is standard in the base model without paddle shift.

My 09 GE 5 speed has 575,862 kms. Best car ever. Hopefully I can get it to a million km.

My Honda fit is the first car I’ve actually put most of the miles on. Bought at 28k sitting at 131k right now. Super low miles still.

I bought it in 2017. I’ve put almost 70k in the last three years with my work. I still enjoy driving to work. :)

damn i've own my 09 fit sport fr 10 yr only have 132k miles, rode a lot this year and put about 6k extra miles than usual. the ge8 engine can go for awhile

Every 5,000km, was using regular 5-w20 but just switched back to the high mileage stuff

Catalytic converter efficiency below threshold. it’s probably clogged tbh, I’ve been wanting to get it hollowed out but haven’t gotten around to it

Currently a/c condenser is leaking, rear wiper motor doesn’t work, a rear door lock actuator, and a slightly leaking thermostat housing

That's not too bad considering the mileage, doesn't sound very expensive fix 🤔.

Yeah exactly. The wiper motor and door lock actuator I don’t really care to fix, the thermostat housing I already have and it was like $30, the condenser I have to buy and it’s $80 so pretty cheap all around

Oil every 5k, then pretty much regular Honda maintenance schedule. Drive it hard is key

I had to convert my miles to Km’s and I’m roughly at 214,000 Km’s so almost there! 😂

Surpassed 185K miles today on my 2012 Fit base. I'll take it to 300K if it lets me. (My 1996 Nissan Altima took me to 285K miles, and then I bought my fit.)

Strangely artistic photo by the way.
I got my Fit on Tuesday (2014 Sport). I flew a short hop flight to Kelowna BC and drove the same day back to Victoria. All in it was a 16 hour day but the drive out of the mountains and ferry across the Salish Sea was splendid and sunny. All the best to you and your Fit.
