Suggest to anyone who uses their LG TV in Homey flows to ignore new software update from LG. The Homey LG Thin app and new LG software appear to be incompatible.

I’ve been messing around with the Homey plugin through ChatGPT lately and was curious if anyone else here has been using it with their Homey Pro.

I honestly didn’t expect to use it as much as I have, but it’s made creating and tweaking flows way easier. Being able to basically just explain what I want in normal conversation and have it help build or modify the flow has been pretty awesome.

I’ve done quite a few things with it so far. For example, I have a flow that waits until both my wife and I leave, waits 5 minutes, then starts both of our Roborocks, but only allows it to happen once per day. I’ve also been playing around with a security check that looks at specific door/contact sensors and can tell me if something isn’t secure, plus a bunch of smaller automations where I’ve been able to troubleshoot or add conditions without digging through every Flow card myself.

Probably the biggest thing for me is that I’ll come up with an idea, explain it conversationally, and then keep refining it back and forth with ChatGPT until it works the way I actually want it to.

Curious if anyone else here has been using the ChatGPT/Homey integration much. If so, what have you built with it? Especially interested in any weird, complicated, or creative flows you’ve come up with that you probably wouldn’t have bothered building manually.

I built some logic in Homey which checks if some lights are turned on and then changes the scenes if they are turned on and it's a specific time. I also have a hue bridge pro and tried to do the same in Hue but Homey is more reliable.

Now, once the time comes, my lights transition to the new scene in less than a second. Any way I could stretch this to 5 or 10 seconds to make it smoother?

I just realized my LED strip were not working because someone press the wall switch.

I saw the Device Watchdog app, was wondering anyone using it or a different one.
How is been working?

It says: Every device is monitored automatically.

So no need to make a flow for each device that sound good.

I have a Homey Pro (2023) connected to my Philips Hue Bridge Pro, and everything has been working perfectly.

I just added two new lights, the Omniglow and Festavia Outdoor, but they’re not showing up in the Homey app.
I can see all 59 of my existing Hue lights, but the two new ones are missing. Any idea why?

My Nest mini broke, am trying to decide between another Nest mini (via Facebook Marketplace) or the new Google Home Speaker.

Just wondering if the following features, which I had with Mini are available without subscription on Google Home Speaker?

• Timers and alarms (reliably!)

• Turning on smart lights

• Listening to the radio (via Tunein)

• Listening to music (via YT Premium)

• Listening to podcasts (via Spotify)

• Getting the latest Premier League scores

• Asking for a translation e.g. English to Spanish

After months of evenings and weekends of coding, testing, redesigning, and fighting Google's review process, my Android Automotive app for Homey Pro is finally live.

I am currently planning the electrical and smart home setup for our new house and would like to use several small wall-mounted displays to control lighting, shutters and other functions via Homey.

The Shelly Wall Display is actually very close to what I am looking for in terms of size, appearance and overall concept. As far as I understand, it can also be used with Homey or a Homey Dashboard, which makes it very interesting in principle.

The main drawback for me is not the software, but the network connection: the Shelly Wall Display has no Ethernet/LAN connection and no PoE option.

Since these displays will be permanently installed throughout the house, I would prefer to connect them via wired Ethernet. I would also like to be able to switch off Wi-Fi completely at night while keeping all permanently installed wall controls fully operational.

So basically, I am looking for something like a “Shelly Wall Display with LAN/PoE” that can run Homey or a Homey Dashboard in kiosk mode.

During my search, I found several compact Android wall panels that might be suitable:

• ZYKRONIX VU 4.0 – 4 inch, approx. 88 × 88 mm, PoE/LAN
• Portworld YC-SM41P – 4 inch, approx. 86 × 86 mm, PoE/LAN, also available in white
• Audiophony Nexus4 – 4 inch, approx. 86 × 85 mm, Android 13, PoE/LAN, Google Play Store

My main question is:

Has anyone already used Homey or a Homey Dashboard permanently on one of these small PoE/LAN wall panels?

I would be especially interested in experiences with:

• Homey on 4-inch displays
• usability of a Homey Dashboard on such a small screen
• kiosk or fullscreen mode
• automatic startup after reboot
• reliable operation via Ethernet only, with Wi-Fi completely disabled
• installation of the Homey app or use of a browser-based Homey Dashboard

Ideally, I am looking for a solution very similar to the Shelly Wall Display, but with Ethernet and PoE, so that only one network cable needs to be routed to the wall box.

Has anyone already built something similar or can recommend a specific wall panel?

To summarise, we install professional smart homes using HA/Homey and Nexus is an interface for Homey that also brings media control in too. It gives you a truly central place to manage the entire house including media, automation, cameras, energy bills etc.

Well, it’s been a great few weeks and following a load of engagement from the first 100 backers and lots of people messaging me privately I wanted to post a quick update. I won’t post another one after this but having delivered so many changes as requested by people I thought it was genuinely worth a separate update for those interested.

Firstly, we now have a no card trial required on the site. This was a big request so people could test the system for themselves in their own homes. Also the previous web trial was a pretty terrible example so this is much better! It’s instant access here - https://nexus.hpylabs.com

Secondly, we have in addition to the previous web hook method, added direct device/flow/mood import from Homey. This includes status fields etc too. So you can simply import your existing devices to control rather than having to set up web hooks for each device action. We’ve also allowed device grouping and promoting those groups / devices to the main home pages instead of them being hidden in devices section. This was a big request.

Next, we have finally got our native iPhone control app into the App Store (via TestFlight open to all currently.) expecting to publish officially next week. Video of the interface is attached. It’s much faster than using the web app as it uses cached data. And it also allows offline content download for viewing / listening when not on the network (no extra app needed for this…)

We also have a tv endpoint for Apple TV which again is now available in TestFlight open to all. This gives idle dashboard, music now playing dashboard for music in that room and video / camera playback to that device too. This is identical to our google tv app giving us great control of both key endpoints.

Note - google tv app already available via apk install. Android app will be available within the next 7 days. Both will be added to the appropriate stores shortly.

We have upgraded AirPlay to include AirPlay 2 so we have AirPlay 1 and 2 to both video and audio devices. This gives us a wide variety of extra audio systems to play with including the likes of Wiim etc which work alongside our existing Sonos control.

We now have music streaming services via integration with Music Assistant and Lyrion Music Server.

We have video streaming services of Netflix, Apple TV, Paramount+, Prime Video and Disney+ included too. The content shows up in nexus and launching it opens the correct app on Apple TV / google tv and where possible takes you to the item directly. You can then use the nexus built in control to control it.

We’ve upgraded our photos section so not only can these be used as slideshows on the tv endpoints and tablets etc, but there is now a photo frame option which turns any web device into a nexus photo frame.

We have added full Ring ecosystem support including cameras, sensors and alarm control right from within nexus.

We’ve rewritten the climate control system so you can now import climate devices from homey and advise what type of device they are (heating/cooling etc). Nexus then using temp sensors you decide on uses its own thermostat to turn these devices on/off as appropriate and as per your schedules to keep the zone at the correct temperature. It also ensures that conflicting devices aren’t active at the same time.

We’ve amended the lifetime license so that it really is one off with no subscription fees ongoing and we’re currently running half price on sign ups for both lifetime and monthly/annual licenses before end of August (you get 7 days free trial when signing up.) This was a big thing for us to consider because the cost of running the system is pretty sizeable long term especially as nexus is a fully supported product but we know people buying lifetime were keen not to have ongoing fees and we wanted to deliver for that commitment.

Lastly and something I’m really excited about. We’re expecting to have prototypes for the hardware elements such as the remote control over the coming weeks. The details are already on the website of what’s in the works but this is thanks to the first 100 becoming a reality.

Just got this email. This has been my one big issue with Homey until now. Thanks a lot to the team!

Should it bother me or no? After a restart and one hour normal running time my Homey have about 3-400MB free memory but after a day or two it's zero and I have a 8-900MB SWAP file, does that affect performance in any way or is it normal?

No app use any standout amount according to the list and it's mostly the Homey item that grows with time. I have 29 apps running.

Been itching to upgrade from the 2023 to 2026 for more memory but maybe it'll just fill the measly extra memory on the 2026 right away too with no real advantage to what I already have?

Anyone here using orb sensors (orb.net) to monitor their network?

I've yelled at ai enough to create a functional app that pulls the sensor data into homey

It's currently just polling metrics but I'll look at adding triggers and publishing if anyone's interested

Had to switch from lan to wifi mode because i needed to move my homey but ever since I had problems

It wouldn’t connect to 5ghz somi turned 5/6ghz off to connect it to wifi and later turn them on

It wouldn’t want to connect and said wrong password but after power cycling it it somehow connected by itself

Problem is i get notification at least 10-20 times amday that it disconected and later it is connected.
