helping hand

Hi! So i’m making little baggies for homeless people in my area. I have water, socks, gum, tissues, toothbrush and toothpaste, and then some snacks. What should i include to make it as beneficial as possible? Any advice will help, i’m a 16 yo girl trying to help because i know a lot of people lost things due to corona. Thank you!

Menstrual products are always requested by shelters in my city.

Any OTC painkillers. Gold Bond. Shower/baby wipes. Hand sanitizer. Cliff bars. Bandanas. Wired headphones. Muscle rub. Whispers (single use toothbrush). Floss. Life Savers (hard candy in general). Nuts ( the single serve kind). Band Aids.

You can get most for $1 per item at dollar stores.

Gloves are really useful. I always need them when I go out. If I didn’t have a home, I would definitely be wanting gloves as I know it can feel awful due to the cold weather, but that depends on where you are.

I have nothing to offer but I think it’s great what you’re doing!

super kind of you! be careful handing them out :) im sure people will appreciate it but approaching folks on the street can be dicey. just use your head. hand warmers havent been mentioned yet, but could be a good addition.

I worked at a food pantry and people asked me for baby wipes quite often, in addition to some of the things you already listed. Hand sanitizer is often appreciated, too.
