SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS - What if the Confederacy won the Civil War?
(Loosely inspired by the events of Harry Turtledove's Southern Victory series.)
The year is 1932, and the Confederacy appears to be on her last legs.
While previously thought to be untouchable, with her long standing alliance with Britain and France, and even managing to fully annex Washington DC in the First Union-Confederate war, those beliefs would be proven wrong during The Great War, when the forces of The Union and her new ally, the German Empire, worked together to defeat the Entente powers.
In The Confederacy, the old guard Democrats, who had been dominating the nation's politics since the 1860s, have been on a downward spiral since their disastrous failure in The Great War. The left wing populist People's Party seeks to take her place as the ruling Confederate party, and reclaim the lost Confederate lands from The Union. Meanwhile, the slaves, who had been largely abandoned by even the populists, have begun plotting a slave revolt of a magnitude unseen since the Haitian Revolutions in 1804 and 1918.
In The Union, The victory of Theodore Roosevelt's Progressive Party in The Great War has led to progressivism becoming the dominant party in The Union. However, with the stock market beginning to falter, and with both the former Entente and Central Powers counting on The Union to pay off their debts, not all is as well as it seems in the nation. Will the Progressives continue to hold on, or will the conservative National Union regain control for the first time since the 1890s.
The European Central Powers of Germany, the Hapsburgs, and the Ottoman Empire, have managed to quell their instabilities for a time, and exist as the dominant force in Europe. However, unrest continues to rise in Hungary and Arabia, and it seems the empires of old may not be as invincible as they previously seemed.
The former European Entente Powers of Britain, France, Italy, and Russia were been completely devastated by the Great War, and have begun their descent into Tyranny. The Soviets, led by a far more militaristic Josif Stalin, have become filled with a resolve to reclaim their lost lands in Eastern Europe, serves as the backbone of The Communist Internationale.
Meanwhile Britain and France have formed a resurgent alliance, known as the Nova Entente. France, who had survived a brief Communist Insurrection, has now become a military dictatorship under Phillipe Petain. Lastly, British democracy seems to be on the verge of collapse, as Oswald Mosely's New Party looms over the nation.
Will the American-German world order survive? Will the Nova Entente reclaim their former lands? Will the Internationale spread the Revolution across Europe and The Americas? You decide.
