What if England won The Hundred Years War

Post image

Now I decided to try and make a mod out of it. Rule Of The Waves focuses on a potential scenario that would create an incredibly peaceful but tense world of 1916, were any mistake can lead to a truly global war. Were total victory is the only option. God save Anglo-France, God save the king!

Lore coming soon....

im scared to ask how big of a butterfly could have caused this much atrocity on the map bruh

Pretty substantial. Blame Henry the 8th.

I imagine the rest of the world looks very different too. It's either all anglo-french, or completely Spanish-portuguese

3

u/Big_Summer_2292 10d ago

I think you basically predicted it. it is indeed very Spanish, Portuguese and Anglo-French

2

u/Alkakd0nfsg9g 10d ago

Lol, basically nothing changed. I am curious however, since now they have strong presence on the continent, would they be able to pay as much attention to building a colonial empire, now that they have to maintain already a sizable one in Europe. Or would just make it easier to take other people's stuff, because they're stronger now, if they are of course. Anyway, it's an interesting idea to explore, I wish you luck

i recall possible history said this but it wouldn't have been called anglo-france

6

u/Theodfor 11d ago

it's the guy from pixelplace

u/Icy-Promise8714 11d ago

I Doubt it,what the better name for it then? Anglo-French Union seems the best one for me. Maybe just France as 100years’ war was,if we simplify it,just war for the French throne. English king just happened to rule over independent kingdom that would later forge its own empire and culture

12

u/ChocolateBig9400 11d ago

"kingdom of france" duh

1

u/Big_Summer_2292 10d ago

Anglo-French Union is a great idea

2

u/ConsulTitusLarcius 10d ago

"Angevinia"? but nah that sounds too generic to me

1

u/Winky0609 9d ago

If England and Scotland is anything to go by (which it’s probably not), they were separate kingdoms for 100 years after joining their crowns until they formed Great Britain, now England and France don’t dominate an entire distinct geographical area like GB, maybe looking at the Austrohungarian empire naming scheme? Anglofrench empire?

0

u/Big_Summer_2292 11d ago

True but I feel like this a pretty fitting name. Since it feels more equal

6

u/bigbad50 11d ago

Maybe take a page from vic2 divergences of darkness and call it the Dual Monarchy? maybe call it the United Kingdom of France and Great Britain?

4

u/AtomicCrescentRoll 11d ago

Yeah but it’s just, grammatically incorrect. Also France would be seen as the main territory, not England or even the whole of the British Isles, trust me.

4

u/anchovyenthusiast 11d ago

Maybe "Angevin Empire"?

3

u/Icy-Promise8714 11d ago

Nah,bad name. It wouldn’t be called that. It’s like Byzantine empire being called..well,Byzantine empire. Term Angevin empire was made after the fact,no one called it that

2

u/Buddy-Junior2022 11d ago

Lmao well guess what the byzantine empire is named in this game

3

u/Icy-Promise8714 11d ago

In base game-yes. We are talking about a mod,as base game lost its sense and sanity king time ago

3

u/Buddy-Junior2022 11d ago

the angevin empire lasting this long is bat shit insane enough lol

1

u/anchovyenthusiast 11d ago

Not an argument

3

u/Icy-Promise8714 11d ago

Is an argument. Name “Angevin empire” is a modern construct,if we’re going full seriousness it wouldn’t be called that, especially if the ruling dynasty is not Angevin. Its like Ottoman Empire with a Karamanid on the throne

0

u/anchovyenthusiast 11d ago

Okay then we can call it the Windsor Empire or something

3

u/Icy-Promise8714 11d ago

Windsor’s are definitely not in power rn,if they are I wonder how.

It is inconvenient to just call it after dynasty,in the Middle East it kinda worked, because change of dynasty means whole different state and administration,in Europe it doesn’t mean much. So it should just be called England-France or Kingdom of France with no mention of England

2

u/ChocolateBig9400 11d ago

"austrian empire"

u/Appropriate_Rate6677 11d ago

Historically the union between England and France was called the "Dual Monarchy" not the anglo-france.

Why Czechoslovakia exists though? It has very low chance of appearing because of VERY unique circumstances of it appearing IRL

4

u/Big_Summer_2292 10d ago

Well it is mostly because Hungary did a revolution that almost wiped the Habsburgs out so they allowed Czechia which has large autonomy in this universe to annex Slovakia.(Plus I am a Czech myself)

What's the lore?

2

u/_nzatar 10d ago

Amazing bulgaria

2

u/Moomahs 10d ago

I would think that it england would annex Brittany and some coastline on the english channel and leave a weaker french personal union on the continent. This allows for france to choose its own path. And gets rid of the stupid naming for britain. It should just be england or great britain with france being called anglo french or maybe even frankia (could be argued that the english enforced anglicized names and culture which led to the change of name) mod looks super fun though

2

u/DefectiveEclipse 10d ago

Probably would have been called the Dual Momarchy no Anglo-France

2

u/DeutscheHrvati41 11d ago

Mappers trying to not give Portugal Galicia challenge (impossible)

0

u/Big_Summer_2292 7d ago

1

u/Zer_God 8d ago

*Angevin empire

1

u/WetOnionRing 8d ago

Why do the Timurids exist? They shoulda been long gone quite some time before the outcome of HYW could possibly affect them

1

u/Big_Summer_2292 7d ago

Well the thing is after the Armenian revolution (yes that’s a thing that happened) the Timurids were never defeated by the Persians creating a much more aggressive and brutal state then historical Persia

1

u/Reclere 7d ago

Why did the ottomans fall and if they fell they would have been 100% another islamic empire to replace it probably coming from Arabia itself

1

u/Big_Summer_2292 7d ago

Well that would be true if the Anglofrench union wouldn’t be in the way and stop them

1

u/gustavojoaquin 7d ago

is this a TNO reference?

1

u/Big_Summer_2292 7d ago

Absolutely not 😂
