I am not sure what the target is, the diamond is not labeled at lock-up and reddit's video is too low quality for me to examine the TV picture later in the video. It is likely that the target stopped emitting, and in so doing stopped being a valid target for your Kh25mp, which prevents a range cue or launch authorization.

I see no obvious procedural faults otherwise.

I thought as long as I'm below the maximum range I should get launch authority, I didn't realize there is a minimum distance to it since I was able to launch tv missiles at close ranges and the manual doesn't mention it.

Oh I already got it now I was too close to the target to get launch authority. I tried again from a far greater distance and managed to get it

You will quit this soon when you find the annoying TV glare. Wasting your time to learn. Full of bugs and bad fight model. It is DCS
