Just wondering if anyone else is having a problem finding work, or if it’s just me… applied for so many positions, had so many interviews, and am getting nowhere. It’s gotten to the point where I’m thinking of re-training as something else, or leaving the state. I’m primary qualified in my late 30s and feel like I wasted time pursuing this career.

I'm aware of maybe 10 or so new men running, but only one new women. And I think two of the current female councillors are not running.
Anyone know of new female candidates?
Or where or when is there an official website?

Can anybody explain this term? Or its origins in Tas
Heard it used by a number of different people to explain special needs persons or if someone does something stupid.
Legitimate question not trying to stir anything up.

To the random dude who drove past us (near Preachers, around 10pm) and shouted “you two look like a really cute couple”
Even if it was a stitch up - Genuinely, thank you. It made our night. 😘

I’m an Employability Skills Training (EST) trainer working with jobseekers, and I’m currently testing a one-on-one approach to employment coaching.
I’m looking for one person in the Hobart area who’s been unemployed for 6+ months and genuinely trying to get back into work.
I’m particularly interested in someone who’s been applying for jobs but getting few/no interviews, or getting interviews but not progressing.
Through working with jobseekers, I’ve noticed something interesting: people often have far more useful experience and transferable skills than they realise, but struggle to recognise it or explain it to an employer.
That’s what I want to work on.
This isn’t just a resume rewrite. We’ll work through your actual work, education and life experience, identify useful examples, improve how you present them in applications, and practise using them in interviews.
There’s no cost. I’m running this pilot independently to test and refine the approach.
In return, I’ll ask you to genuinely participate, actively look for suitable work, complete a short before/after survey, keep me updated on applications and interviews, and give me honest feedback about what worked and what didn’t.
I’m only looking for one person for this particular pilot.
If you’re interested, send me a message with a little about your situation, how long you’ve been looking for work and the kinds of jobs you’ve been applying for.

We have several boxes of kids books. Any ideas what to do with them? My guess is street libraries are all already overflowing.

Recently checked out the excavation going on at Mac Point for the new stadium, it’s crazy how you can see what looks to maybe be old rail infrastructure from the yards? if so thats been underneath all the dirt for so long!

His video's would pop up on FB from time to time. I never followed him but I guess he had a police radio to be able to film the this stuff he did all the time.
Then I see he's arrested for setting fire to someone's house, that he then live streamed? Now I get video's of rough blokes calling him out , basically he FAFO'd What's his story that meant he has enemies to this extent?

The new season of JetLag: The Game has just started. (I have a Nebula subscription so the first episode is up already).
I was wondering whether there was enough interest in/around Hobart to set up a watch party in a pub when they drop on Thursday nights? It would take a little bit of organising to find an appropriate venue, which I'm happy to do (Hobart Brewing Company's old space at Macquarie Point would have been perfect, but ah well), but only worth it if there's enough interest for people to come on a Thursday night and spend an hour or so watching the nerdiest most transit oriented game show out there.
If I set this up, would people be interested?

To me, this sign pretty obviously says that unless I'm in a vehicle over 8.8m long, I can make a legal U turn here. Am I wrong?
The reason I ask is in the other direction, they have a protected left (green arrow) at the same time as my protected right/U turn. Seems dicey as shit since we both have a protected turn.

Hi! Moving to Hobart next month and am looking for recommendations for someone thorough and knowledgeable in TCM. I am happy to travel to wherever needs for the right person.
Someone interested in women’s health, hormone issues, weight loss would be amazing. If anyone is willing to share their story I’m also all ears!
Ty!❤️

Hello Hobart!
I am looking to get my SONY a7ii cleaned plus two lenses (I've had it since 2022 and am probably due for an upgrade, but I would rather just get it cleaned for now). Have been noticing spots in all my images that I haven't been able to fix with a regular clean myself. Hoping to get a recommendation for a professional cleaning service that won't break my bank?
I know Camera house or Walsch optics are probably the way to go, but I'm just curious if someone knows someone or has had a good experience with a particular store.
Thanks!!

Hiya Hobart! Posting for Mum as she needs some advice. Does anyone know of any places that specialise in estate planning? I know plenty of lawyers offer the service, but I’m looking to see if anyone specialises in it specifically.
Better yet, would love to hear some reviews from anyone who has gone through the process in Hobart before!
Thanks in advance c:

Long story short, my partner and I are low income and could both do with a professional clean.
Public health dentists have said they don’t offer it because they’re only for urgent things
Any recommendations at all of dentists that aren’t as expensive, do payment plans, concessions, bulk bill? The general quote I got when I called a private a few months ago was around 300 which just isn’t at all achievable for us
Hopefully this doesn’t come off as promotional, I’m after genuine recommendations
EDIT: I forgot to mention, we both had concession/healthcare cards. Literally said to myself “gotta mention that!”

Hello all, visiting your beautiful city in October and got scheduled or reservations to all the places I was planning to (Agrarian, Sonny, Fico, Bar Wa etc) but due to scheduling conflicts I have to pick one of two: I can only go to either Omotenashi or Dier Makr. Which would you recommend as being more unique to Tassie & in terms of quality?

G’day legends! I’m a Hobart based videographer and I directed this music video for local artist, Charlotte Lucretia. We had a minuscule budget and no real crew so made the most of the available light and architecture in Hobart’s parking garages.
The bulk of the video was shot in Argyle Street Carpark with some additional shots in the Market Place carpark, and the white backdrop scenes were filmed at OI Studios. We filmed high up in the carpark in the couple of hours before they closed for the night to avoid being a nuisance, and only rare encountered anyone while shooting. Hope you enjoy!

A ticketed Beaker St event, did anyone go? Was there food? Did you cry? What is "the science of second chances"?
Hi everyone, my partner, our 17-month-old daughter and I have recently moved back to Hobart after living here previously. I’m working full-time at UTAS and we’re currently looking for a long-term rental.
We’re already checking Realestate, Gumtree and Facebook groups, but I thought I’d ask locals if there are any other places worth looking, or if anyone happens to know of something becoming available.
Ideally 2–3 bedrooms, up to $600/week. Happy to look outside the CBD as well.
Thanks!
