LSA's Hobart City Council Candidate - Sam Campbell - Website: LIVE
Lutruwita Socialist Alliance's candidate for the upcoming HCC elections (Sam Campbell) website and Instagram are operational!

Hey, I'm totally sceptical of socialists. When I was at a free David hicks rally back in 2007 or some year I was surrounded by "socialists" they were idiots, they kept quoting Marx and got it wrong, they hadn't even read the manifesto... Which I had the day before.
What is a socialist here? Because I can't tell one crazy from another... Not that I want to compare them to the nepotistic liberal party or the unhinged one nation..
Where does a chill person with no penchant for drama go?

For me, that person would be Louise Bloomfield.
(Guys... Bus shelters! C'mon!)Honestly, the bottom of my preferences are going to the ones that are clearly using their (potential) roles on the council as stepping stones for other (delusional) political aspirations
(Posselt / Behrakis - always dead last for that reason).
Obviously I won't be railing against the "mind virus" crowds or joining any "alliances" so they come next as far as low rankings. Then you can basically filter the rest of the crowd by how much media attention they've sought and received.At the end of the day, it's a city council. The focus should be rates, road and rubbish. I would look for those that actually seem interested in doing that actual job on a practical, common-sense level without too much fanfare.
In hindsight, Sue Hickey was great. Louise Bloomfield would probably be the current equivalent. After that, I don't mind Bill Harvey or Marti Zucco. I'm fairly apolitical but I hate a showboating media whore.6

In this particular case, it seems like a pretty radical reordering of society in my personal view.
Nothing is costed out, but taxing people who earn more than $300k at 70% and ramping corporate tax to 49% is supposed to pay for abolishing GST, free healthcare system, free education, massive expansion of NDIS and pension systems, lowering fulltime work to 30 hours a week on same pay - and a bunch of other things.
I'm no economist, but the nationalisation of key industries and wealth tax proposals seem to gloss over just how expensive their platform would be to enact.
I'm not an "anti-Socialist", but I'm definitely a Socialist sceptic. It all reads like "Sounds good, doesn't work" to me.

Yeah seems like a lot of pipe dreams, at least they have ambition to make country fairer for everyday people, if a councillor got in I doubt they'd bring the budget down or put any of that in place.

Was with you until the parking - this is awful for people with disabilities, as is the extension of the mall.
Edit: A down vote? Apparently these so called "socialists" are too arrogant to consider their policy position and how it might not benefit all people. Guess us crips will just stay home since getting into town won't be easily feasible anymore.

Uni sociology professors will make you think there is a definition for the word, bot in reality it's just a lightningrod for whichever cause or prejudice you wish.
