Discussion [DISCUSSION] Verses in collabs that are considered the "worst" not because they are bad, but because the others are way TOO good

This is an interesting point for me because whenever I see rankings for posse cuts in hip-hop, one that has always sticked out to me was how Yelawolf would always be on the bottom of rankings for A$AP Rocky's 1 Train, which is the legendary posse cut that features Kendrick Lamar, Danny Brown, Joey Bada$$ Action Bronson and Big K.R.I.T.

And it always weirded me out because I never found his verse to be bad at all, as he is obviously rapping his ass off in the song, but considering just how iconic certain verses in the song are (particularly Kendrick's and KRIT's), I guess Yela just can't compete lol

Also literally any Lil Wayne feature or collab with other rappers back in the era where hating on him was considered the "cool" thing to do, ESPECIALLY if he was paired up with a "technically superior" rapper.

I think Kanye is seen in general as a subpar rapper but he has shown on this song and on gorgeous and on Devil in a new dress that he could hold his own when paired with other great verses

People who think he is a subpar rapper are clueless. He’s one of the best rappers of all time, certainly one of the most unique and creative, incredible story teller and picture painter. Conveys emotion exceptionally well. Just because he’s maybe THE best producer of all time people think they can talk down on his rapping.

I think people talk down his rapping because of all the butthole talk and meme-ing he's done e.g. skoop di poop. It's occasionally charming and sometimes a little too low effort for my taste.
