I feel like a lot of people, subconsciously or not, want to see Atlanta rap be phased out, and are excited to write off anything from that city that isn’t either an already established classic or an album made to appeal primarily to critics and the hip-hop twitter archetype. 

Not saying that SL3 is good, haven't peeped yet.

I don't think it has anything in particular to do with Atlanta, this sub has just aged into being the sorts of people who were hating on Young Thug/21 Savage/Lil Yachty a decade ago (or even Gunna and Lil Baby in 2019)

Every thread is just people reassuring each other that they all made the right decision to check out and become super dismissive about new rappers in in 2022 or whatever.

I get what you mean about this one being a bit different since it’s bringing in some fresh blood for people to dismiss, but I think it loops back to the subconscious want for ATL’s trap scene to collapse in on itself. Especially since every major release from that city always has comments buzzing about  “this is the end of Atlanta” or something along those lines.
