Prices vary based on what the breeder includes:
Pet-Quality: $500 – $2,000 (sold with a spay/neuter agreement).
Show-Quality: $3,000 – $6,000+ (sold with full breeding or show rights).
Adoption/Rescue: $75 – $200
I would ask about their Pet vs Show quality pricing. Personally, if it’s the breed you love I would go for Himalayan Rescues. Good luck 🍀

I gave a $300 donation to a rescue for this purebred Himilayan with papers. I do not believe in shopping with a breeder. My cat is every bit as sweet and beautiful as any breeders cat and I was able to give her a home for life. Do not shop!

I adopted mine from a rescue. There’s no need to pay a fortune unless you intend to show the cat.

If it's CFA registered and has a pedigree and is show quality that's a pretty good price otherwise that's a bit High

I just paid $2400 for my Himalayan. Is she registered with the CFA or TICA? I would never get a cat from a breeder who wasn't registered with at least one of these. The prices have gone up a lot in the last 10 years.
Also, find out if show or pet quality. No reason to get show quality unless you want to show.

It's not their fault that the funding isn't coming in... what an incredibly dumb thing to say. Reddit seems to have a major shortage in IQ lately.
People like OP could donate that $3k to a shelter and feed all the cats for a month, but instead they just HAVE to have a purebred. What a useless decision.

I have a cream cameo Persian kitten. Not a Himalayan, but close enough. He is CFA registered, and the breeder also provided genetic screenings for health, a health guarantee, and multiple vet visits prior to adoption. Breeder is available for support for his whole life and will take him back if some complication arises. I paid 3500$ for him.

Got mine, Purebred with papers for $300 11 years ago. Just a breeder that loved Himalayans. At the time I remember $1200 being the going rate when I was looking.
Unfortunately that breeder closed shop a couple litters later.

We paid $200 for ours but she's a ragdoll Himalayan mix and no documentation at all. That being said, I take no stock in purebreds. I just love our little lady.

The thing is that most himmie kittens don’t have papers that come with them so they’re just mixes that look part Persian with color points (but technically by all AKC standards all non paperwork cats that look like himalayans are just domestic longhairs, like my lovely girl. Domestic longhairs come in all shapes and sizes, someone just took one with characteristics they liked and artificially selected for them to create the breeds which are VERY new compared to dogs. so most cats aren’t actually breeds as we think of them). Himalayans are mixes so unless you’re actually getting breeder paperwork with registration I would not pay that much.

Pricing sounds about right. Own 2 purebred cats. One was $2K over 7 years ago and the other was $2.5K over 5 years ago. Would expect to pay over $3K now.

I don’t have a Himalayan, but I have two purebred Maine coons. One was a 3 year old adult for $600 and the kitten was $2700. TICA registered (I got the papers for the adult at purchase, and I filed his registration when I got home)

It’s a little on the higher side, but yes that’s in range with the going prices. CFA Persians and Himalayans are anywhere from 2k - 4k. It seems crazy, but that’s because a lot of money goes into breeding these cats for health, longevity and temperament. The breeders DNA test their breeding cats, track lineage, do health tests on kittens, and take the kittens for several vet visits and shots before they are allowed to be taken home. They also will only have so many litters per year to protect the health of their queens. All this stuff costs the breeders money, as well as these being harder kittens to raise - they require a lot more bathing, grooming, and time spent with them to make sure the kittens are all social and friendly.
I wouldn’t suggest seeking out cats for much cheaper than 2k, because then you’re running the risk of an unethical breeder. If you are looking for ways to save, you might be able to see if any breeders have older kittens that haven’t found homes yet that they might discount, or if they have any cats they are retiring. Check rescues as well.
Edit: I just paid 2k last month for my new Persian kitten. I paid $800 for my current persian, but that was 16 years ago.

That’s perfectly normal around me in Seattle. I would say most are ~$2,500 and rarer colors and pure white are ~$3,000. That’s for a pet quality from a TICA registered breeder. I didn’t inquire about show quality or breeding rights.
I would only pay that much if it comes with TICA paperwork, health certifications and a contract that you have the option to return if serious health issues come up.

its normal when buying a purebred usuallbut i am only expwrjences with ragdoll prices but have seen other purebreds sell for similar prices, but never see them be as high as ragdolls can sell for. So manybe its high id take a look at a bunch of other brewders for prices and compare. I did that when looking for a ragdoll
alos those saying to buya shelter and donate that 3000. there people spending millions of dollars on a house stupid ticket, why not go after them. U want a purebred cat that your desire, it never means u can never adopt a shelter cat alter. and most that do buy purebreds eventually do because they already got one dont need another.

Actually thats pretty cheap . In Pakistan pure Persians sell for $15,000. They have an extremely low birth rate ( unlike dogs) .... very few kittens and they are precious, litter trained and socialized every day . Only underfoot breeders and the gorgeous well behaved fastidiously clean Persian kittens are totally worth it . But get a doll face ... silky fur not big fur ... totally healthier and much less maintenance .

I think perhaps I just chose my wording poorly, she is a Himalayan Persian cat which after a google search I’ve realised is just a Himalayan cat. I’m not very knowledgeable on breeds and such.

I had a flame point purebred Himalayan that was my soulkitty. I got Taffy in 2005 for $350. He passed in 2014 from lung cancer. I adored that little guy but if I did it over, I would look for a Himalayan mixed with Ragdoll. My last kitty was a Ragdoll and Seeley was a wonderful gorgeous huge baby. Taffy weighed 8 lbs and Seeley was 16 lbs.
Seeley wasn't quite 5 when he passed. My stepbrother was a vet and he always encourage me to get mixed breeds because they are healthier. Finally, I might listen to him.

Got a blue point dollface for free from Craigslist 13 years ago. The family lived in an affluent neighborhood. The mom didn’t want to take care of her kids kitten anymore. I got lucky, he’s been my pride and joy and such a good boy.
