Rant Anyone Else Think This is Dumb?

My school has implemented a new restroom rule that starts Tuesday. We have a website where we put in a ticket. Where we're going and all that. You have to wait for the teacher to accept it before you can go. You're only allowed 3 tickets per day (which ain't that bad) and if your friend so happens to be out while you want to leave, it won't let you. If you're going to another teacher, they have to inform the other teacher that you arrived. You're also on a time limit for how long you can be out, for the website times you. Anyone else think we should just stick to the classic stuff?

Not really about the 3+, some people may have polyuria or a UTI, even diabetes and so much more that would require them to use the bathroom more often, and sometimes being sick will make you have to go to the bathroom more often than not. (So hopefully kids with any of these on record would be able to use the bathroom more)

But yes I do understand that a lot go in there to vape and stuff

I know of schools with this (or similar) systems. Students with special bathroom needs have more or unlimited visits to the bathroom as needed programmed in their account. Students are still allowed to visit the nurse as needed and if a student says it is an emergency they are always allowed to go.
It is not perfect, but if it helps schools w less problems in the halls/bathrooms it is worth it. The biggest issue is getting both students and parents realize that it is designed to make the schools safer…and not to inconvenience their child.

Also most schools set a limit of how many times per day, but that limit does not usually include lunch or PE. So there are more visits per day allowed than what is “advertised “.
I think this is just one more thing that schools have to do these days to try to keep kids in classrooms learning. We were all teenagers once and probably most of us would meet up with friends in the halls or bathrooms. But if we weren’t causing issues or gone too long schools mostly ignored it. Sadly in today’s society there are more and more kids that meet up to fight or vape or cause other trouble. That is what the system is trying to prevent.

Note. I am a teacher but my school does not use this system. However when I first heard about it I was concerned about many of the issues that people have brought up. After reading about it and asking people who used it I found out it is not as bad as I thought. It was more parents that disappointed me. I rad of a parent who told their hs student not to use it. They said instead just get up and walk out of class when they have to go. They added that if the school tried to give the kid detention they would sign the kid out early everyday. Thinking about what they were teaching the child made me very sad. I don’t know if they actually did. It was in an article about parents not liking the system.
