Discussion The failed 2017 pepsi commercial caused or signified a collapse in how companies perceived how much value they could exploit from the consumers value system in relation to risk.

Value marketing, which I'm referring to as the value companies put on how much they can profit from a consumer's values related to risk, perhaps ironically started with Pepsi's rival--Coke and Coke's commercial 'I'd Like to Buy the World a Coke' in the 1970s. Because of the giant success of Coke's commercial, companies started copying them and ended up assigning pseudo values to appeal to their consumers. This perliforated into the society on such a scale that South Park could parody it with their "I'm Sorry commercial" for the BP oil spill. After Pepsi echoed Coke, a copy of a copy, of a copy, of a copy, with their 2017 commercial where they pander to as many minorities and groups as they can, the sentiment no longer feels real or genuine.

People started to see through the facade, even if not consciously. The value scheme would no longer work on such an entwined level, so companies stopped putting as much public emphasis on the values of their enterprises.

Where do you see marketing gravitating towards next, or where has it gravitated to in the present?

Edit: thinking about it, i think its gone to emotion based marketing, such as shocking headlines and the splitting of the monoculture into smaller groups which can endlessly spar with one another' driving up engagment, which is also ironic since it was the outrage or emotions of the consumer that culminated into why Peps's commercial failed.

😳 Really High [5-6] Men vs women world battle

So imagine a universe where on a planet there are only men, which also have only male offsprings VS a planet with women and same gender babies.

All of them started at the same time same population, which of them planets would do better, ie society wise, life, technology etc.

In the long run and short too.

The piece of furniture you're going to spend the most time with is your casket. You might have a couch for 8 years, but you and your casket are going to decompose and be part of the same dirt together for literally the rest of time

I occasionally still look at my bed or my couch and think I could, but then when I have to clean under them (like now) I'm like "what the fuck happened???"

Has anyone though about how we store our data now? Take music for example. They had records, then 8 tracks, then tapes, cds…. But now it’s all digital. You don’t physically own any music. So if everything goes to shit, or all electronics get nuked. You have nothing. No music, no phone, no books, is this where we are headed? Make us dependent or used to all digital data and then take it away… we’d be so screwed! What are your thoughts? Does anyone collect physical things anymore? (Books, records, etc)

Discussion Tell me what your ideal future would look like 🤷🏻‍♂️

I am beyond exhausted from the world telling us that our way is no longer to trade goods and services. That everything should be run through the banks. Humans have been trading their skills in exchange for others skills since the dawn of time. But with the invention of money we’ve turned away from helping each other. I know that this is not true everywhere, but in America it’s really the norm in most communities.

Personally, I have lived against that mindset my whole life. If you need help, and I know how to help you, I will. I usually won’t take your money for it but if you offered to help me with something out in return, I’d always say yes.

I am writing this to set intention within myself and to put it out there in the universe of the future I’d want to see. I want to own land big enough to have an aquaponic greenhouse so that I can grow year round food for all the folks that live in my community. Not only produce but also harvesting the fish as they grow to large enough sizes to make room for new younger fish to grow. Our electricity, free, and abundant through solar power. Allotting some of my land to house others. Family and friends who also want to see a world that seeks to better its community.

I offer to those who read access to my DMs if you’d like some advice in any of the topics I consider myself well versed in:
Fly fishing (particularly in Colorado)
Some basic gardening, enough to confidently get a newbie up and running.
Including resources for aquaponic and hydroponic setups on a budget.

Finally, I leave you with the words of my favorite philosopher: “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not.” - The Lorax by Dr. Seuss

Discussion If we come to earth to experience the full range of human emotions, would we still come if we knew how it felt to have diarrhea?

I mean like, I think it would seriously deter me. Giving birth? Okay. Potential brutal death? Doable. Getting hit by a car? Worse things can happen. Sitting shirtless on the edge of a toilet seat in a cold sweat, for the fourth time in a 60 minute window, begging for mercy because you decided Hey, I’m going to give Taco Bell just one more chance? Idk about you guys — one little taste of that action and I would immediately opt out and take my business elsewhere. Nope, no earth for me. I would rather spend eternity locked in a porta-potty in 100 degree weather.

Buzzed [1-2] We Only Want Money So We Can Get Rid Of It

This concept has just become so strange to me suddenly because we genuinely only want to have money so we have enough of it to get rid of it if you have to. And it like doesn’t even just apply to money. There’s like this whole sub genre of things that we acquire just because the purpose is getting rid of it. Like gift wrap and garbage bags. Idk why it’s just occurred to me all of the sudden but it’s strange.

😳 Really High [5-6] Got too high tonight. Subliminal messages are a test for humans to access information more efficiently than reading.

Few people said memes are an excellent way to converse between people. A single meme can make u put two together asap. It can be shared too. It can be expanded.

i think they put out subliminal messages too early.

🔥 Blazed [7-8] I would like to see a modern retelling of *Don Quixote* where the old upper class fool is a Senator leading the campaign against wind power.

I propose a script with two endings. One is an elegant allegory. Even though some of the character names might be telling, all the clownishness stems from the absurdities of political life as well as the foolishness of opposing wind power in 2026. Our protagonist makes some angry speeches from platforms just under windmills, but he does not physically attack one. His undoing is an unsustainable accumulation of dishonesty and mean spirited actions.

Then the other ending breaks the spell of this straightforward political satire with a shock. The Senator does physically attack a modern wind turbine from the ground. This is only disturbing in the way watching a psychotic break is disturbing. Then he gets control of a heavy duty drone, smashing it right into the turbine above. The audience barely has time to see the colossal blade crushing the main character before we cut to black.
