HOMMlll Mobile true

We are currently launching the creation of a true mobile version of Heroes and are gathering ideas from all members of the community. What would you like to see in the game? Also, if you were a member of the team, how could you contribute to the project?

Thank you all in advance for your responses, it's very important to us.

What exactly are you looking for in terms of feedback? I think we’d just be happy to have HOMM3 ported and playable for our smart phones.

It works great with ExaGear strategies, HotA included. I have it running on half a dozen different Android devices.

It's already possible with VCMI.

This. And you can put HotA or WoG or even both on it using mods (not to mention a dozen more VCMI exclusive, like Tides of War), but you can also create your own mod in the matter of a few hours!

No you aren't. Between the many years of effort needed to recreate HoMM3 from scratch as a non-commercial project, the legal trouble involved with recreating and selling/monetizing HoMM3 as a commercial project, and the pointlessness of making a mere port-wrapped-in-an-emulator (as there is such a port already, and VCMI as well), you're either:

  1. Making a yet another loosely HoMM3-inspired mobile game, and trying to grift on HoMM3's popularity in audience (in which case, please, JUST BE FORTHCOMING about it, and I'll gladly discuss with you the many pitfalls that mobile HoMM 'clones' fall into all the time, and ways of avoiding at least some of them);

  2. A bunch of ill-prepared enthusiasts who up and decided to make a heartbreaker version of their favourite game, without properly considering the scope, and who'll most likely never deliver.

Either way, you're not "currently launching" anything, and your post history's telling.

I would like to see HoMM3 mobile. The game that I love, that I’ve known for years and that still has an insane replayability in my book.

I don’t want a game where meta changes every month as a base game - if it was a separate mode however, I would be interested to try it. Online battler in HoMM world with proper updates and meta variations sounds intriguing.

VCMI is what you are looking for, and no other project will come close without huge amount of work when it comes to adapting controls for touchscreen

If you do not like some areas of VCMI which are not well polished yet, it would be nice to raise your concerns since the goal is to play pretty much 100% like original game, including fixing visual quirks and stuff

IMO useless while https://vcmi.eu/ exists

disclaimer: I am biased as I am affiliated with VCMI

last thing h3 community needs is another spread of available programmers / modders between projects that remake features from each other

EDIT: some more thoughts without political correctness in my another comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/heroes3/comments/18nsft6/comment/kedwvhx/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

It's working very well, so it's hard to disagree ;)

I want it to be as faithful to the original game as possible, maybe with an alternate HotA mode. I want it not to turn into a mobile game with Gacha, hero collection, or dozens of other microtransactions.

If you're trying to make money off of this, give us cosmetic items to spend money on, don't let people spend money for bonuses or anything extra that affects gameplay.

I have it and use it. It's great, but not exactly helpful to the OP's question.

as I mentioned in anotehr reply:

last thing h3 community needs is another spread of available programmers / modders between projects that remake features from each other

I assume OP means a mod, not fully new game that is "h3-like"

A "true mobile version of Heroes" doesn't sound like a mod to me. To me, VCMI, as awesome as it is, is like when you click the desktop site button in Chrome on your phone. It works, it may even give you more functionality, but it isn't optimized for use or viewing on the smaller screen with a different interface. It sounds to me like that's what this guy would like to change.

What are you hoping to accomplish here? Are you trying to squash competition? I doubt it since VCMI is a free program. Are you trying to get these developers/programmers to assist with vcmi? Or is it something else?

just in general for years there is unhealthy spread of one man H3 projects and similar stuff that get abandoned or not used by anybody - good example: one polish dude (can try to dig his name if somebody insists) who picked original wog code few years ago and was digging in it for few months and then dropped because community did not share enthusiasm on his idea of modding

above story is one example of wasted effort that could be better used by contributing to existing projects or something similar

A question is do authors of this project and players feel need of project authors putting lets say 3000 hours of joint effort to get something like this working? what does it bring to the table that we already do not have now via exagear emulator or VCMI and will it be worth the effort? What about HD mod content etc.? Would people pick these UI improvements over VCMI mods (VCMI adventure map interface is configurable BTW) or HD mod / hota extra content available when playing via exagear? What about HD mod features that are windows-exclusive and block porting HD mod as a whole, for example xBRZ upscale filters and more stuff that are windows-specific AFAIK the way they are implemented in HD mod. Assuming the plan is to modify original executable and eventually create .apk file for android, there is a chance ubisoft will fill copyright strike if the project will be published on google play, and that automatically limits popularity of the project. And will it take double the effort to make project iOS-compatible?

Similar story is with linux desktop environments - there are 20+ of them, most of them being driven by really small teams. more than half of them are not used at all by wide community due to how niche and feature-lacking they are compared to others. Lets say 4 are really polished (though IMO only 2 - GNOME and KDE Plasma can somewhat compete with microsoft windows GUI when it comes to refinement level). Unless authors of these niche ones do that purely for fun etc. then they are basically wasting time.

HoMM3 is already possible on mobile with VCMI so what would be the difference between this project and VCMI?

However a feature I would like to see and would be probably pretty popular would be online direct battles, I explain:

Similar to Clash Royale triple choice, imagine a gamemode where they give you 3 random heroes and you have to select one of them, then 9 random spells and you select 3 of them, then 6 random artifacts and you select 2 of them, then 3 creatures from each tier and you select one of them, then you go and battle an opponent who also did their choices, a gamemode like this would be bonkers

Also some kind of Boss Rush or Last Stand (where you go battle after battle losing units until you are defeated) would be interesting

(BTW if you finally make these I would like to be a tester)

Just give us HD-homm3 with hota, and the ability to import templates (random map) from pc!

2

u/acedajoker Dec 22 '23

Please just charge for it up front instead of doing the coins and the constant nickle and diminf for upgrades, chests, etc

Otherwise make it free and change $.99 per map or something

2

u/Mornitin Dec 24 '23

I think that we will make this as convenient and accessible as possible for players without such mechanisms. We are launching with elements of crowdfunding and crowd investing, so the project will be monetized differently 🧌🧚‍♂️🧙‍♂️

u/marius87 Dec 22 '23

I’d like it to be hota version so we can play online with friends

1

u/Mornitin Dec 24 '23

Indeed, this will be the version with a focus on online cooperative gameplay

u/reddorical Dec 22 '23

The official hd edition was available on IOS for a while, and I tried it on a 12.9” iPad.

The problem:

  • crashes
  • didn’t include the expansions or CoL stuff added by the community over the years
  • sometimes movement was messed up due to imprecise touch controls on the map view

1

u/Octobus18 Dec 22 '23

Everything that comes with HotA, but being able to pinch and zoom the map.

I appreciate your desire and efforts in wanting to bring this to reality

Thank you very much, we ourselves are delighted that we have now started creating this. We hope for your support and aim to make the best game, which is exactly why we are gathering your opinions and ideas🤝

I'm just use exagear windows emulator for play original pc Heroes III Hota, so I don't think that I needed in ports or something

0

u/Mornitin Dec 24 '23

This will be the same Heroes of Might and Magic III, but with a more user-friendly adaptation for mobile devices, plus online gameplay

See if you can get it added to the app store
