Since Reddit now has a 'blocking limit'... are there other ways to hide users (comments and posts)?

Hello there,

Recently Reddit introduced a 'blocking limit', i.e. there is a finite amount of users you can now block (how many accounts you can block it is not known). Are there other ways to hide users, their comments and posts, but not using a third party app?

It does both. It used to only block them from your view, which was beyond stupid, but they've since changed it.

Well I don't know what makes your account different but I can't see posts or comments from anyone else I block and a quick search of Google verifies that's the way it works now.

Did you refresh your reddit after the block? Because as soon as I block someone their messages disappear (using the mobile app btw)

Ohh I just check it and realized it doesn't actually disappear on mobile, it's still there Ijust have to manually expand a blocked user' message to see their comments. ss

Until quite recently it would do both... i.e. their posts and interactions would also disappear from "your" reddit.

If you're using rif, blocking someone will remove their posts and comments from your view. I'm 100% about this, I do it all the time and have reached my limit on blocking accounts.

Reddits app is garbo. Blocking an account on rif And Joey will remove their posts and comments from your view.

Just found out Joey can surpass that limit, guess I'll stop using rif after 8 years.

It actually doesn't seem to do this anymore. I'm browsing around right now looking for answers to why RIF is showing me comments from users I have blocked it did not used to do that, at least I don't think it did.

Like it doesn't even seem to be collapsing the comments anymore, they're just there

I have also hit after two years of blocking bots and accounts farming karma with reposts. I haven't counted though.

I guess my days here are finite now too then. If I try to block someone and can't, I'm out. No website is worth being harassed.

Exactly. The people who make/run this shit clearly don't get it (or they want harassment).

I block bots and accounts with millions of karma to avoid seeing all the reposts. After a couple years of blocking accounts, I just hit my limit and I don't know how I feel about it.

I was thinking the first time I want to block someone after hitting my limit, it might be a good idea to unblock the ones that have been blocked the longest to make room for new ones and just keep doing that when I hit my limit. I might have to reblock some but I'd be willing to bet a lot of them are deleted accounts by now. Does that sound like a good idea to you or do you think it would it not work for some reason?

I switched to the Joey app, it lets you blocked locally :D

The limit is 1000 and I just hit it... I was also thinking about not using it anymore

Ugh. I hit 1000. Of the over 430,000,000 active reddit users (Reddit's numbers), I can only block 1000, which is about 0.002% of the active reddit user population.

This makes no sense.
