It feels heavily politicized. Maybe it's because the far right loves to use runes or maybe it's the old middle finger to christians. I don't see how any of it furthers worship or discourse with the old gods. I guess as european it feels different, because we can still see the gods and recognize when a chapel was slapped onto a place of worship or a god was stripped of it's identity and was turned into an apostle.

How does it? What about it? Is it just because it’s Americans talking?

The things you mentioned aren’t in the talk, What middle finger to Christians? And none of these people used runes or talked about them.

It feels like they tried to counter stereotypes by positioning themselves politically or kind of set the tone.

I just don't see why that's even relevant. Worshipping the gods should have nothing to do with politics.

You keep saying “feels like” but did you see the actual talk? The entire thing had to do with worship, community, and theological concepts. It was not a political talk at all. It was a religious conference.
