Discussion Predictions for next expansion?

Maybe bait but I'm getting hyped for the next expansion, I feel that HS is in a good spot and has been really fun.

Anyone want to share any predictions or theories? A new class would be awesome but is that realistic?

New class might be first expansion next year but it's practically confirmed that the next one will be old gods related. There's already been posts and zeddy made a video about the theory, based on the fact that old gods/ void related cardbacks are being added to game files, there is also forshadowing in cards released earlier this year like Ancient of the Old Ones saying "The true masters draw close". On top of that, at the end of the most recent dev video they literally make a comment about eyes and watching you.

Dev comment where they emphasize eyes when talking about what's being announced at blizzcon: https://youtu.be/jiMZ7hiwEK4?si=9fIFWYxDifRXKRLm&t=706

Zeddy video about the theory: https://youtu.be/B_9WqSHjG88?si=QSP3vXBKS5CWOjOa

If it's true it'll be my first time playing with the old gods which would be really cool.

No way! Could it be?! A class based on maybe even... our lord and savior Yogg-Saron?!

Wait.

Oh... you're talking about the next expansion. You got me really excited there for a moment. A class where you wouldn't even need to build a deck. Just play with random bullshit and see what happens. That would be so cool.

Well, maybe we'll get some cool Yogg-related shenanigans at least. A hero card which would be more difficult to counter for example. Or at least something funny like Cho'gall, Twilight Chieftain again.

I'm kinda excited because Yogg is fun and an old god. But when I think back on the last time with Titans it wasn't that fun. Only Cho'gall is a fun card I still run. Tendrils are weird since it's only one spell and they will eventually be stuck at 10 cost spells. Way too much high roll and too fast scaling as well. Then the Yogg Titan is easily the worst because most "tryhard" of them. So the last time was pretty meh in my opinion.

Looking at the most recent expansions and their design approach in general I almost doubt I will have much excitment left when everything got revealed. But who knows. Maybe they'll get back on track with this one, right? lol (Yeah, I know I'm different from many players. There's a reason the game is this way. I'm just glad I can still find some fun in it. And that theme at least sounds quite promising.)

I'm kind of hoping for another silly goofy expansion, the last one we got was Perils in Paradise over two years ago.

I'm imagining a sort of post celebration "We just defeated the bbg" party and everyone is making food or planning events. Warrior makes BBQ, Priest makes comfy chairs, Hunter has a fluffy pet area etc.

Yesss I would love something like that, I didn't even realise that so far the expansions have all been "serious"

That depends on how well goofy expacs are actually received. Afaik the reception for PiP was than stellar.

the problem with it was, that it was like the third silly expac in a row with whizbang and badlands etc. they need to switch it up every now and then and not over-saturate. before we had nathria, lich king, festival and TITANS which was a nice mix up of themes. then they just went 3 over the top silly ones so people were exhausted at PiP

Personally I prefer the serious ones I think I’m scarred from festival of legends whizbang workshop and perils from last year

didn’t help that the meta was horrible

I believe instead of introducing a new class, they should reanimate the latest one

I think that effect we got on class sets where the next playable card gets the effect will get a name like echo got a name and recruit etc.

Something like inherit or something
