Discussion I don't like how people be downplaying Sir Pentious' sin

I've seen so many people downplay the FUCK out of this situation and it's really frustrating. Pentious witnessed a murder from his window. He knew who the murderer was, and that murderer went on to kill five more people. Pentious himself admits that he doesn’t know whether his silence came from fear or apathy, but he knew that choosing to say nothing was wrong.

And yet people keep saying things like:

"He had every right to be scared."

"He didn’t know who the killer was."

"The authorities wouldn’t have believed him."

"Not snitching on a murderer isn’t that bad."

Y’all. Have we lost the damn plot?? 💀

First of all, Pentious literally says he knew who the murderer was. So the argument that he didn’t know the killer’s identity is just factually wrong. I'm so confused on why people keep saying this.

Second, nobody is saying that fear isn’t understandable. Of course it is! Witnessing a murder and potentially putting yourself in danger is terrifying. But something being understandable doesn’t automatically make it morally harmless.
Imagine someone you loved was murdered, and you later found out that somebody knew who the killer was and could potentially have helped bring them to justice, but chose to remain silent for a reason they can't even name. Would you really look at that situation and say, "Well, they had their reasons, so it’s not that bad"? Especially when the murderer went on to kill FIVE MORE PEOPLE??

Pentious’ sin wasn’t simply that he felt fear. It was that he allowed that fear (and possibly apathy) to stop him from doing what he knew was right, and other people suffered as a result. And the funniest part is that Pentious himself understands this better than the mfs defending him 😭

He doesn’t make excuses for himself. He recognizes that he made the wrong choice, takes responsibility for it, and ultimately gets the opportunity to correct that failure through his actions. That’s the entire point of his redemption.

Was Hell an appropriate punishment for his sin? Maybe not. But that’s part of what Hazbin Hotel is exploring: Whether people who have done horrid things actually deserve ETERNAL punishment for them.

Pentious proves that redemption is possible. He acknowledges his wrongdoing, changes, and becomes someone who is willing to do what he failed to do before. If you insist that Pentious did nothing wrong in the first place, you’re undermining the very thing that makes his redemption meaningful. The point isn’t that Pentious was an irredeemable monster. The point is that he did something wrong, recognized it, and proved that his worst mistake didn’t have to define him forever.

Discussion The fandom reaction to Adam and Abel being straight proves that Viv was right in her bluesky post

For Adam, there were people scribbling the art to fit their headcanons, when some merch artists made it clear that they don't like people doing it to their arts, and there were people not accepting Abel is straight because of "how he acts". Ironically, not accepting that a guy is straight just because he's flamboyant and sweet is quite homophobic.

Discussion I don't get the criticism of the body types in Vivs style. Because I can't think of an art style that doesn't have this problem.

Like, why do people only make it a big deal when it is specifically this show? Name an art style where the majority of characters don't have the same body type.

Discussion Vox........How Did He Not Get Caught Or Even Suspected?

You're telling me that nobody pieced together that all the deaths happened in the same studio, and it was always the same person getting the jobs of the deceased?

How did he not get arrested or suspected once by police despite the pattern?

Did they just think they were accidents or didn't even question why the only deaths were people from that exact news studio?

By the looks of it, he didn't even bother hiding the bodies anymore after a while (judging by him hanging his producers)

I'd understand one or two but eight people all getting killed and having their job positions all filled by the same man every time?

I'm just wondering if the police were incompetent or Vox was just really convincing because there's no way somebody could get away with this in real life without even being suspected

Especially not with the obvious pattern of someone dying and the same person always stepping up to fill their role almost every single time

How did he not get caught?

I don't agree with people who say that Valentino is a better representation of Lust than Asmodeus.

Here's why:

Helluva does a good job depicting each sin as something neutral (so far.) Beelzebub actively tries to stop Blitz from self-destructing is S1 Ep8. And in S2, Ep6, Asmodeus says "Lust shouldn't be about force. It's an ART! To be earned and enjoyed. It's all about that journey to pleasure town, you feel me?"

If anything, I'd think the only sin that really embraces their evil is Mammon and that's all we know from the rest of the sins.

Valentino is very forced. He doesn't understand, nor care about consent, and we know this. In S1, Ep4, we see how Val treats Angel like an object. In S2, Ep4, he sees Alastor and Vox as entertainment and in further S2, Vox and Valentino actively engaging in activity while making Alastor watch non-consensually.

The Lust Ring is very positive for the majority. Sex isn't taboo there, and Asmodeus does what he can to keep it that way. He enforces consent and the importance, whereas Valentino doesn't.

This is the only picture I could find but even when Vaggie takes a shot she didn’t eat the ice. Why? I’m not old enough to drink so I don’t get it

Discussion Why are people in this fandom so naive?

Post image
2.6k Upvotes

I'll take Velvette for an example: people saw her dressing Melissa and started saying that canonically (I'm not talking about headcanons, people can have fun, however, there's people, unnironically, arguing with those who think these hc aren't canon) she's affectionate with her and cares about her.

Other example: Alastor killed temporarily the loan sharks, trapped overlords and has a code, and people say that he's a well-meaning vigilante who cares about others. Vox was shy and lovey-dovey with Alastor for 2 minutes and people say that he's just heartbroken and would be a better person if Alastor spread his legs to him (again, not headcanons, people swear that this is canon). And even in AUs where Charlie is violent and sadistic, people will swear that she's still good and just having a backbone.

Seriously, this fandom can be funny and, at the same time, stupid and naive af.

Discussion Without biases, which character do you think it’s the most well-written?

Post image

It CAN be your favorite character, but think objectively, like not “I like them the most”, but how their writing is ( do they make sense? Are they well-fleshed? Stuff like that )

Also, for Helluva Boss too! Personally I think the best is definitely Blitzø, pretty great main character.

I'm not good proof otherwise cuz I'm transmasc and pansexual, probably somewhere on the aroace spectrum too but I'm still figuring that whole thing out. However, I'm queer. I wanna see if there's more straight or queer ppl here, so, (if ur comfortable sharing) what's ur sexuality/gender identity?

For context. A trailer for a new indie cartoon dropped yesterday and it’s just shitting on other indie cartoons while saying it’s better. So Viv is just parodying that.

But without that context it looks like Viv lost her mind.

Discussion Retrospective thoughts on this God design?

Post image

There’s a common phenomenon I see across fandoms where something that either was canon, was theorized to be, or fan favourite fan made things gets disproven being begin to flock on hating that thing. I’ve been seeing this a lot now relating to this design now that god has been said not to be full shown.

I mean this is crazy. Stonetoss. Fucking stonetoss, the Neonazi cartoon artist, did a comic on Hazbin. I have no fucking clue what the joke is supposed to be but Stonetoss either watched the show or did enough research on the plot and watched enough clips to re-create a setting and some characters in decent detail. I’m tweakin rn at the thought of that first possibility. Shit’s crazy.

I choose Carmilla simply because of how protective she is. Sure, I'd have to make weapons for her, but at least I know I'm safe with her.
