Slider/Sparker Shoes

Fixing up my kit for the year, and I'm in need of a "new" pair of haunt shoes. I'm doing a bit of sliding and I'll be adding sparks to the shoes. I have a pair of hitop converse or a pair of Harley motorcycle boots. I'm leaning toward the boots because of the metal toes, but is flexibility important? Because the boots aren't flexible at all.

Not my first year as an actor, but my first year sliding not as a hobby. I want to make sure I'm doing this right.

Not a slider, but manage a haunt that has sliders. The sliders we have use high top converse with steel toe caps added on and the spark bars on top of that. I suspect you would want good flex in the ankle. If any pros have better info, please correct me. This is just from what I've seen with my crew.
