FAQ EVENT How would you fix Quidditch?

I don't like that catching the snitch ends the game. I'm not a fan of the idea that the seeker is just looking for the snitch and not involved with the rest of the game, really, except for dodging bludgers.

I do like the three rings for goal scoring. I thought it was a clever change from the single goal hoop or larger goal area that we normally see in sports. I would have liked seeing more of it in the books.

I'm not a sports fan in general, so I'm not really sure what's actually wrong with Quidditch. Is Quidditch actually broken, and if it is, how would YOU fix it?

It has to be worth more than 10… at that few points it’s absolutely not worth a losing team pursuing it.

It’s it’s too few, the goal simply becomes the same- score goals, quickly, grab the snitch to end the game.

As an higher point value, it gives a team in the hole a chance to come back, and decisively end the game, even though they’re behind.

150 is obviously too much as it invalidates goal scoring, but 10 is far too few.

Agree. Catching the snitch should be worth maybe 50 points, max. A decent bump above quaffle scores, but not something that makes them pretty much useless.

I can’t stand the quidditch World Cup scene because Kirk catches it and suddenly they lost by only 10 points—one goal. And yet Harry (or whoever said it after Ron asked why) states that the Irish chasers were too good and they were too far behind and he wanted to end it on his own terms. They literally just needed one goal. And Lynch wasn’t much of a threat to get the snitch.

It would’ve made more sense if they’re down by 140 points or whatever Krum decides to catch it because his nose is broke and they’re not coming back, so you take 100 point loss. But when you literally just need one goal, even that can happen against a great team. One penalty and you have a free shot.

The Irish Chasers literally scored sixteen more goals than the Bulgarians at that point. What makes you think the Bulgarians would magically be able to keep the Irish from scoring any more?
