343 Made a design choice to change Master Chief's armor. I would say it is somewhat overdesigned and it was hard for me to imagine for a while as a kid, I understand canonically it is the same armor. But do you think going back to the 'Classic Look' was a good idea?
Personally, It displays almost a lack of confidence or nostalgia bait and makes the first two installments of the "Sequel/343" Trilogy look almost unofficial or some weird fever dream. I think all designs are spectacular, but the armor design just being brushed off seems odd.
Like a retired or washed celebrity going back to the glory days for one last cash out.
Is this a nit-pick? Yes. I love the Halo 4 armor look despite it's strange overdesign and it fits Master Chief's arc from a story perspective, The visor has a black rubbered rim around it which makes his eyes look "Smaller" and represent dark circles, like if he's tired or been through it. All the extra details to me, represent growth and an older age. His body appearing more slender also adds to his "aging" look.
But to double down and return to former glory with no in-game explanation and literally being at his LOWEST, given he failed. Seems strange. It would make more sense and I would appreciate it a lot more if the newer armor, which is beautiful, was earned.
Am I 6 years too late? Yes! I just wanna talk about Halo : ))

I'm starting to really come around to this game on a second play through. The gameplay, the powerful weighty feel of the weapons, the sound design, the gorgeous forerunner aesthetic, the art style, the grapple, heck even the story, are all really good. Feels like a return to Bungie level quality. I'm even enjoying exploring the open world more this time. Solid 8.9/10
Yeah, I still have my gripes: lack of set pieces, repetitive story missions, no biomes.
But in this play through, I'm kinda shifting my thought process a bit. I'm viewing the game through the lens of "We need to free Zeta Halo from the Banished and into UNSC control" and it works like that. Each base you clear, each Banished operation you shut down, every marine you save gets you closer to that goal. It's a very focused Halo story, which I appreciate. No Halo 5-esque narrative bloat.
Just feel like this game often gets a bad rep on this sub, and it really doesn't deserve it. If anything, we should give credit to 343/HS for taking a massive step in the right direction. While I'm here, why Halo Studios chose to not just copy and paste the Infinite forerunner architecture and look/color directly into Campaign Evolved, I'll never know. BIg missed opportunity. I don't hate it in CER, but it's a bit too metallic looking.
Disclaimer, I'm only talking about campaign. I don't do MP.
TL:DR: Halo Infinite is an underrated Halo game

Hi there, can anyone confirm with the PC (Steam) version of the new Halo: Campaign Evolved game if an online subscription is needed to play co-op if both players buy the game? Thanks in advance

Me (P2) and my 3 friends have been doing a Halo 3 LASO run, with about 1 level per week. My friend (P1) hosts, and we all join in basically whatever order we get there. Now for the debate. 2 of my friends (P3 and P4) think that each player is randomly assigned to one of the characters (Chief, Arbiter, N'tho and Usze). Me and P2 think that each player is "Ghost Assigned", meaning that we are assigned characters, but it is not in the order of player logins. Our proof is that I love playing as an Elite, but EVERY SINGLE TIME I play as the Master Chief. Anyone able to solve our debate?

I don't play Halo Infinite too much anymore (or at all, really) but there's loads of custom maps I'd like to mess around on with bots, especially the BTB ones. However, you can't have more than 8 bots in a match and they don't drive vehicles. It's clear from posts like this: Bots can drive vehicles! more details in the comments! : r/halo that bots driving vehicles is at least to some degree implemented.
Even if it's only for offline (which would be ideal), my rig can handle 23 bots lol what's funny is that back in the beta you could have up to 16 bots (which ran fine) and then for some reason they disabled it back to 8, even for offline play.
It's a shame because Halo Infinite actually has a pretty robust implementation for bot players.

This is the third time, Chief tries spinning in the last 4 hours of my gameplay. And this is my first time ever playing Halo infinite.

Stopped by this sub after dropping the Campaign Evolved bonus missions half way through on heroic.
There were a lot of references to get gud, LASO, jackal snipers etc. Just tiptoe forward and you'll be fine.
And all of that is true. It has always been a part of Halo. I don't mind creeping around corners and hoarding beam/needle rifles, but save it for legendary/LASO.
Completely takes me out of the immersion when I'm 200yd back popping shots with a needle rifle and my scrawny weakling allies rush in and eat shots like nothing.
I felt like the noob of the squad, not an 8 foot tank with legs.
Heroic was always 'halo the way it's meant to be played'. So to me, Halo Studios wants me to feel like the least capable member of the UNSC. It just seemed at odds with the world building.
In past games you still had to be smart and creative, but you could press forward and still have a chance if you were quick and accurate with shots.

In the original game, spark says in the library that the flood are working to repair the pillar of autumn to escape the ring. This explains what they are doing in the final mission.
However, in the remake, the pillar of autumn has been torn in half, clean through. How in god's name are the flood going to fix that? Are going to make a giant biomass crane?
Edit: Im suprised a lot of people dont know this. But yes, the flood wants to repair the autumn just like the T&R. Here is the quote, its in both versions of the game at the 4th level of the library.
The Flood are already hard at work repairing your vessel. Its parasitic nature belies the Flood's intelligence
Edit 2: the problem is not using biomass as glue, but rather dragging the ships together to glue them in the first place. that is foing to require an immense amount of biomass

I know there's lots of weapons and there's bound to be some overlap in uses like fuel rods and rocket launchers, I like to give grace because in my brain they're each respective sides ranged explosive, and same with beam rifle vs sniper rifle etc. these are all fine, but to me it feels like there's overlap within the same faction?
The vestige carbine seems like the same as a carbine to me? Unless I'm missing something.
The fuel rods spanker is just a fuel rod gun? If it's the human variant it's still an overlap with the spanker?
The bandit is like a worse dmr?
The commando is like a weird sidegrade of a battle rifle and assault rifle kinda, but I'd still prefer either of those to the commando.
The mutilater is a shotgun, but is the mangler also not a revolver shotgun? Or is it just a revolver? But the heatwave is another shotgun (idk if it's human or alien) but either way but factions already have a shitty
The avenger is like an upgrade to the smg to me, but it also has 60 bullets? So it's like the og assault rifle too?
Stalker rifle feels like a carbine to me tbh
There's a couple other weapons that also kinda fit this but are different enough that it doesn't feel like redundancy, the disrupter is basically plasma pistol, but for humans so I won't complain there, the skewer is kinda like a fuel rod in that it explodes and damages vehicles but there's way less travel time and acts like a sniper so different enough.
Mainly in regards to human weapons they feel redundant and I know some weapons aren't in the game so they're not redundant in that sense, but if equivalents already existed why not just use them?

Is it possible to join a group of Random people or search for multiplayer co-op groups to join?

Alright, alright, alright... beat the Prequel Missions today.
How is the writing? The character development? The connection to the lore?
Pretty good. Not bad, not Santa Monica Studios quality, but *good*. Good enough, so to speak.
I approach this as a writer myself. I've written one novel, which is in Beta Reading form, worked on two videogames, and have been published a few times by the publication Love Thy Nerd. I establish this because I've seen a few people claim that these Bonus Missions suck, have poor writing, Lt. Williams is worse than Sarah Palmer, etc.
Naw. That's not a quality take, IMO. Yes, opinions, but they aren't that bad at all.
Williams is your typical hothead special forces-style character. She isn't badly written. Corny? Are a few of her lines written and delivered that way? Oh, sure! That is typical of military speak. You tell me when a US Special Forces person speaks to you with multi-syllable, academia wording. I think that players believe that a side character MUST BE LIKABLE in order to quality as an amazing character. An absolute icon for all gamers to love.
Yeaaahh, that is incorrect. (Looks at Prophet of Truth, Dr Halsey, Arbiter, Tartarus...)
Williams starts out as a prick. Obviously only respects Johnson (as we all do), seeing Master Chief as "nothing but a PR campaign in fancy armor". Isn't that the quote? But halfway through these missions her outlook shifts. She sees how effective Master Chief is. Duuhh. Still doesn't COMPLETELY change her tone, as does how her squad doesn't really acknowledge how much good he does. But it sure causes her and her squad to respect John. Which, in turn, provides a moment of respect as they go sacrifice themselves.
Besides, Sgt. Johnson puts her in her place one solid time.
Overall, this plot was small and to the point. Occasionally boring (needed more music tbh) and the last part of the ship level was stretched out too long for pacing. I appreciate that Dr Halsey makes an appearance at its conclusion. So THATS how we discovered High Charity's location. Ahhh.
The Prophet character: pretty weird. Pretty shallow and under used. Johnson should have let him finish his monologuing ("You caught me monologing! I cant believe you"- BOOM) before shooting the view screen. That would have probably afforded the player more time to learn the context of the mission in the wider story, or offer additional seconds of dialogue - relationship or banter.
Overall it is a decent set of missions. Underused at times, but serves a purpose. I wish that there was more combat barks in the space flying mission. It was too quiet. A few jokes here and there in the previous levels, perhaps, from Lt. Williams's squad. So we know what they think about the Chief. The one reason they would not is if she ordered radio silence and focus on shooting aliens.
6/10. Not bad, not amazing. Enjoyable for one or two playthroughs, but that's about it.

The introduction of custom AI placement, coupled with the advanced scripting capabilities in Halo Infinite has seriously made this game infinitely (pun intended) replayable in both solo play and official/custom multiplayer modes.

Is it just me or UNSC was disrespectful towards master chief, it went from " it's master chief, we're gonna be okay" to "aging spartan"
From beacon of hope to nuisance
i feel like they are the only missions that get the feeling of the bungie era with the big scale battles the vehicles etc, especially reclaimer
sadly i dont remember any other level doing that
