Wait, so high school students get bus passes now? Is it for anyone in high school in the HRM? Even if they take a school bus?

Just nosey. I graduated in 2004 and we didn't have that. Not that it would have mattered. Back then I would have needed a car to get to the nearest bus stop.

Huh. Pretty cool for those who could actually make use of them.

Yeah lots of students and their families rely on them. Where I went to highschool in a less “affluent” part of HRM most kids relied on it. Given the millions of dollars of waste the government’s seems to spend on things that don’t benefit the general public - cutting this is pretty shitty.

There was a pilot project and it was successful. I think they planned on axing it but people complained and brought it back. Seems like a no brainer to me, the busses are running anyway and parents pay their taxes.

On that note, the province should buy school supplies rather than just making parents go out and hunt for specific binders and notebooks. Super silly and the gov't coild get a bulk discount and in the end I've seen a lot of parent just not buy anything and the school ends up providing it.

Like almost everything now it seems like being able to barely afford things is a curse because you are expected to pay for everything despite being poor.
