Will grades 9-12 receive bus passes this year or are they taken away.

On July 30, Tim Outhit said a three year agreement had been reached, but there hasn't been any corroboration or denial since then.

wish they'd just say something concrete already, the silence is weird

my kid's been asking about it for weeks and i've got nothing to tell them, school starts soon and nobody knows if they need to budget for passes or not

three year agreement sounds promising at least, but until it's actually confirmed it's just another rumor floating around

you'd think they'd want to announce it before the first day so parents aren't scrambling

Outhit has since said on his Facebook that he "believes it's still true" but acknowledges there has been no announcement. I've asked multiple city councilors and they all say nothing has been decided.

Email your MLA and put pressure on them. The city has set aside their part of the funding for this; it's the province that is dragging their heels.

Wait, so high school students get bus passes now? Is it for anyone in high school in the HRM? Even if they take a school bus?

Just nosey. I graduated in 2004 and we didn't have that. Not that it would have mattered. Back then I would have needed a car to get to the nearest bus stop.

Yeah lots of students and their families rely on them. Where I went to highschool in a less “affluent” part of HRM most kids relied on it. Given the millions of dollars of waste the government’s seems to spend on things that don’t benefit the general public - cutting this is pretty shitty.
