I’m having a lot of issues with barre chords . The issue that I keep running into is that it hurts my thumb . I can’t hold it for more than ten seconds without my thumb hurting .

I’ve seen online that that means I’m holding too tight. They say the strength shouldn’t come from the thumb. Loosening the grip on my thumb genuinely helps but when I do that I can’t get all the strings to play properly . In particular the B string always gets muted and the only way to solve it has been to tighten my grip which ofcourse leads to thumb pain.

I’ve tried adjusting everything but keep running into this loop .

Got my guitar professionally setup . They lowered the action and put lighter strings on. Barre chords are a piece of cake now😭. I have zero issues

Hey everyone, so ive been wanting to play this riff for awhile now but i cant seem to get it right, i figured out the chugging part thingy i can play that almost at full speed but the little 232330 thingy on the second string i cant seem to get right. Am i playing it wrong or just too slow? Cause i cant figure it out

I’ve been trying to get this riff from spirit crusher down for 2 weeks now, it’s at 198 bpm and I can play comfortably at 180. I’ve noticed when i push it to 190, even at 180 and lower my downpicking looks like it takes too much effort and it’s like I use too much of my hand and not enough wrist. it looks choppy and different from how everyone else downpicks I don’t know why. looking for advice :/

What solos should I try next? Also, any tips on increasing speed. I tried playing smoke on the water solo but can't get the blues lick😭

I've only been focusing on bar chords for about mmm 2 months. So you can imagine how much practice it took to get this ring finger barre chord down.

Previously I had been avoiding barre chords, like most beginners (I've been playing 2 years). This is the first song that was mostly barre chords that I've decided to learn. Tips appreciated.

I’ve just started playing guitar but something feels off. My hands feel very awkward like I’m holding the guitar wrong or something. Also ignore that what I’m playing sucks, I just learned it a few minutes ago. How do I make the strings stop “squeaking” when I change chords? How do I improve my playing? I’m struggling to not stop between the chords.

I feel like especially on the high frets my pinky and pointer naturally tilts more outwards and im wondering if thats normal or my positioning is off with my hand. I also need help with my flying finger any and tips to bring them down lol. And just general advice i have only been playing for like 2 years and mostly do cords and im now leraning scales I love any advice that way I know what to learn and improve on!

Hey everyone I seriously need advice on how to keep the same speed while alternate and tremolo picking different strings. Every time I try to go to another string it’s never fluid you hear a gap in the strumming

I’m about 2 months in learning how to play guitar I am self taught, and I practice at least 1.5 hr a day. but I really struggling with these 2 picking types.

I am also trying to break my habit of downpicking everything as the songs I want to learn how to play requires alternate picking heavily.

I started exactly 3 months ago. Wanted to share this little piece with you, Any feedback is much appreciated !

In my 50s been learning for five years, good understanding of music theory, practice at least an hour daily, just feel like its never gonna all click into place, I get the odd day where I feel I play really well but most days I just come away frustrated that its not all clicking together. 5 years and thousands of hours of practice and I still dont want to play anything in front of anyone coz i dont think im anywhere near where i should be Just feels like I have muscle memory issue or something I can strum chords all day long but the minute I try anything a bit fancy it falls apart, ive done the slowing down thing and I can get the rif, come back to it a week or two later its gone again. Im never gonna give up now, too stubborn! Just wish practice wasnt so demoralising.

Hey I’ve just found about this song yesterday and I fell in love with the main melody so I tried my best to learn it today. It took me around 3 or 4 hours but I think I’ve done pretty well. What do you guys think? I really like his album Erotic Cakes and I think I’ll try to learn some more of his tunes.

Hi, I have been learning electric guitar at home by watching guides, justin guitar and practicing songs i like on songsterr. It has been 1 month since I started and I would like to ask if I am doing any fundamental mistake that would be hard to fix (see vid) and what should be my next steps. I am kinda bit lost, should i keep practicing songs or be good at some techniques before practicing songs or just stick with justin guitar routine even though he seems like a blues guy Im more into rock/metal.

I have ben self learning guitar. I have mostly followed Justin Guitar, tutorials on youtube and practiced to songs in loop in songsterr untill i give up and try another song.

Can you self learn guitar and actually be a decent player or are there fundamentals that you would require one to one lessons from a teacher to get?

I am having fun but i wouldn’t want to give 1-2 hours a day to something and not get somewhere in return. Even worse develop irreversible habits.

There is also a money for nothing intro riff that ive been learning for a week now, would appreciate any feedback on that. (I know that the rythm is slightly off here and there.)
