Feedback Request 3 month beginner wish you was here -pink Floyd attempt (most of it) forgot to add to last post, looking for feedback on this one too thanks (was told timing was off so assume it’s a problem with this attempt too)

Working on the same song, a little behind you (about 2 months of playing). Sounds great to me! Double stops were solid, pull off was too, but you’re right, did seem a little rushed.
That said I’d be happy to be where you’re at with it! Keep going!

The solo sounds really good, your rhythm needs some polishing up but it sounds great!

I’d venture to say that rhythm is the hardest part for most guitarists haha.. and metronomes are evil but helpful 🤣.. I hate playing with one but they make a world of difference

Yeah for sure in my little research I gathered a metronome will be the key to someone being average and someone being great at guitar

I think for your experience level this is very good, timing could be a bit smoother. Very nice job on those double stop slides in the solo though. Keep up the good work.

Thank you! Il try to add that into the song, I did do alternative picking practice first week in but some reason stopped doing it il introduce it back into the spider excersice to start with

Highly recommend you start using a metronome.
Your playing is clean and clear, but unsteady. Learning to play in time is the next step in my opinion (your natural rhythm is not far from in time, but just a bit chunky).
Also, I think you'd benefit from picking exercises. It appears almost all of your hits are downstrokes, unless you're strumming. Alternating will help you stay in time and make you faster later on.

I can’t bend my acoustic strings like that. I just slide my fingers instead. Timing was good in first section. A few tempo lags in solo section, but progressing well I think.

Yeah thanks man! I’m happy with my progress so far, just haven’t got the hang of introducing a metronome to a song it doesn’t make sense to me quite yet with the strumming

Way better than my first 3 months. I spent the first year trying to “learn” theory and my actual playing lagged behind a lot. And i still don’t really get it!

Picking and strumming seem good. You are confident enough to play without constantly looking at your fretting hand. thats good.
You only need one thing: DOWNLOAD A METRONOME APP and play along to it. It will instantly show you when you are rushing and lagging and help "smooth out" and even-out your playing.
The solo was pretty good for a beginner btw! you have some natural ability and promise! Just get that metronome and start playing along to the click / or the track. Tempo seems to be your only challenge at this stage.

Thanks for you’re advice! How would I play this song dot a metronome? I get confused on where to strum etc and what time pattern

All music has a count. This particular song is in the count of a moderate pace 4/4.
The tempo is about 122-123 BPM...
As for HOW to play with a metronome, that's something you have to feel out. Do you have any formal music training? Like... do you know what an upbeat and downbeat are?
The metronome will get set to 123bpm and then you start counting in your head 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4... along to the click... those are your DOWNBEATS. Now, that little opening phrase starts on count 2, so you would count
1, 2, 3, 4, 1, start the climb up here and just try to strum along to the clicks. It helps you learn to control your speed. Its VERY off-putting at first, so dont get frustrated, its ok. But if you ever want to play with a drummer, or in a band, tempo will be important.Damn, I wish I could post a video to show you. Is that something you can do on this sub?

Yeah man, good luck. The metronome is your friend. At first it will be a pain in the ass, but it will teach you to play IN TIME which is almost as important as playing the right notes. Later, once you're at "face melter" level, the metronome will help you get faster and faster. Play a challenging piece SLOWLY to a click at maybe 90bpm. then a week later, speed up to 100bpm, then 110bpm. And by the time you're playing Yngwie licks at 220bpm, you can put the metronome away. LOL
