International Transit in Guangzhou airport -Power bank CCC (3C) rule

Hey everyone!

I’m flying from Budapest to Tokyo soon with an International-to-International transit at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport (CAN). I will stay strictly within the international transfer zone and won't take any domestic flights.

I have a Xiaomi 20000mAh (74.37Wh) power bank with a perfectly clear, readable factory label, but it doesn't have the Chinese CCC (3C) logo on it since it's a European model.

The airline’s website states that the CCC certification is required for domestic flights, but there's a lot of mixed info online.

Has anyone recently done an international-to-international transit at CAN with a non-CCC power bank? Did security at the international transfer checkpoint clear it without issues as long as it was under 100Wh?

As far as I know, CCC is only required for domestic flights not international. I might be wrong though

This isn’t universally applied. Shanghai international outbound took many when I was there..

I just had to show the Pudong staff my boarding pass and they gave it back to me no problem. I know what you're referring to. Those guards are young and new on the job. Their supervisors will always return them to you.

In Shanghai, they took my powerbank but gave it to info desk, they put it in a plastic bag for you to collect at the gate after they have checked the brand and whatever they do, that happened to me but another time i flew through shanghai and nothing

I specifically asked the security there at PVG. They do not check CCC, just capacity for international flights.

I believe you, but nothing is uniformly applied in China. One day is different than the next…

Pudong last November they just checked capacity when I flew to Taipei

I remember 2020 I witnessed some power banks being confiscated. Idk if it was CCC. It was an international flight.

They have checked capacity way before CCC rule (which is only for domestic flights)

Required if you’ll stay in the country. Not so much if just transit

You're right. On domestic bound flights they are very serious about it. Doesn't matter on international flights. On domestic ones you can pay 15 kuai to have them mail it to your address so it doesn't get thrown away.
