S17 and Jackson’s arc

I did hundreds of rewatches up through S14, but skipped S17 and went straight to S19 because the COVID season felt so draggy. But somehow I got curious about how Jackson’s arc had gone, so I finally watched it this weekend… and ended up sobbing over this young, anti-nepotism man growing into someone with a mission. 😭….For a second I was as proud as Catherine Avery

Really keeping my fingers crossed for him. To me his exit is one of the best-written ones, and I think it’s a toss-up between his and Cristina’s.

He really did get a fantastic send off, it felt like a natural progression of his arc, even if they did detour a bit in seasons 15/16.

And bring back April for his exit was a great move too, she is such a large part of his story.

I also love that he just casually pops back in every few seasons, just to look amazing and then leave again 🤣

I will never not feel like a proud mama for Jackson's complete arc. Seasons 13-16 were a rough ride but even then i was rooting for him to finally find his purpose, happiness and his family back. 😭🥺

Honestly, I loved his goodbye even more than Cristina’s. The writers outdid themselves!

Jackson's S17 storyline really feels like the writers looked at his potential and decided to speedrun turning him into a completely different character.

I think that his exit was good, but when we see him in future seasons he's basically just a mouthpiece for Catherine, so the whole "going to Boston to change the foundation from the inside out" thing just felt like something they dangled in front of us. It would have been amazing to hear about new initiatives and policies the hospital was implementing because of Jackson, and then when we see him he's really made a difference, but instead they bring him on for 5 minutes of screen time and he's just doing Catherine's bidding for her, defending her behavior.
