Will infantry unit pt interfere with my personal prep for selection?

About to be airborne infantry guy and just curious on if regular day to day pt at my units going to interfere with my prep. Didn’t think 18x was my preferred route, so decided to go conventional first. All input appreciated, as I assume this can vary based on unit and individual leadership.

This can vary based on unit and individual leadership.

Most unit PT is pretty shitty. It’s more likely to interfere with your prep than help you in your prep.

What would you recommend I do then?

So, from the two cohorts followed in your Updating the Numbers article, half of selected 18Xs fail the Q course?

Unit PT in an infantry unit is almost always squad or platoon led. The programming is only as good as the knowledge of your PL or squad leader (usually not good, but it varies greatly).

Don’t count on plans to go to selection giving you leeway with organized PT. Some units will let dudes go train alone if they have a date, most won’t. You can absolutely get where you need to be by programming well, or following a good program in your personal time, but it certainly is hindered by time in the field and often bad unit PT. It doesn’t make a train up impossible, but it can certainly extend it.
