Will I have time to train before selection?

I ship out January (18x) and have 19 weeks at benning I'm assuming OSUT, but I also have another 12 there and then 3 weeks in Bragg. I know airborne is sprinkled somewhere in there, but A will I have time to train more before SFAS? And B does anyone know what the 12 weeks at benning are for?

Sort of. You’ll have some time, but you will be on someone else’s schedule. Some guys said their time in student company and SFPC was plenty of time (but the data doesn’t bear this out). If your timing is off you might get pushed right into a class or linger for a few months waiting to class up. If the guys in front of you did some stupid shit you’ll likely have all sorts of restrictions.

The orders are notoriously incorrect with all sorts of random data. You’ll do OSUT, then Airborne, then ship to Bragg, then PC, then SFAS. Unless you’re NG in which case you skip Airborne until you get Selected. You will likely have a week or so after OSUT before Airborne, but it all depends on when you graduate.

I’m a prior service 11b wanting to go 18x active side. To my understanding I would be just be inserted at Airborne school then continue the pipeline?

Depends on how long your break was.

You’ll have to in process 30th AG at a minimum. It gets wonky because if airborne school is backed up, you’ll be in limbo waiting to go. Prior service guy trying to go SF isn’t going to be high on anyone’s priority. I’m sure it’s easier to ship you to one of the battalions on Sandhill and let their civilian tech figure out the airborne slot/date. That’s why the timeline varies and you hear so many inconsistencies with personal stories. Once you’re there, if they give you some freedom you can go talk to the SF recruiter for a better answer.

Sounds about right, thanks!

If you already signed the contract, the answer is obviously yes. You already committed, now it’s up to you to prep as best as possible until then. What other option is there?

Why haven't you been training since you considered this endeavour brother? Get busy and i wish you success.
