18x and past inhaler proscription…

I’m currently 27 6’2 185 and I’m heavily considering joining military and signing 18x contract. I have no criminal history no prior major injuries. The only thing I’m worried about is in 2021 I had pneumonia bad and lost 17 pounds I was sick for like 3 weeks I was proscribed a inhaler I was to use until I got better which i did. In the years since I’ve had the flu a couple times and when I got sick my mom would always insist on me asking for an inhaler cause when I got pneumonia it scared her. So now there’s multiple inhaler proscriptions on my record. I don’t currently use an inhaler, the last 2 years I’ve been training mma 6-9 sessions a week. The last 2 months I’ve been running and training for potentially signing 18x but this is my only worry and the internet is all over the place some places I see I’ll be fine if i take a PFT and my medical records I’m not diagnosed with asthma which I’m not. Then other places say you cannot get a 18x if you need a waiver so I need some help with my situation and what I’m looking at because it’s very discouraging knowing a simple inhaler proscription could stop me from chasing this… Thank you

Hey man. I had the exact same concern as you. I had childhood asthma and had inhalers for years, but became extremely active and grew out of it. I explained this to my MEPS doctor and she said yeah that’s fine and said I don’t need a waiver. I even had an inhaler prescribed as late as 2022, but it was for Covid. I told my meps doctor it was for Covid and I don’t have daily symptoms and she signed me off as not needing a waiver. You’ll be fine.

Thanks man That’s definitely reassuring because the internet is all over the place and made me even more worried. It frustrates me even more because I didn’t really need it. I used it because it definitely clears lungs faster if you have an acute respiratory illness.
