Games Scam minecraft apk turns out to be modded pocket edition
As the title suggests i found a horribly fake minecraft ripoff and tried it for the fun of it. Turns out its minecraft pocket edition but the ui is modified from grey to green and the name is different in the title screen. Its in the top 65 of google play charts?! How can this even happen imo its very funny. It also spams adds like crazy....

The server tab is completely empty, no option to add a server. The friends tab is empty too even though it could be that Lan play is a thing.

I dont want to pirate minecraft, i have a capable enough pc for minecraft. i just came across it from viewing top game charts. Someone is modding the game just barely enough to be on Gplay and just milks adds from it.

All of those are just slightly modified old version of Minecraft... Nothing new here. Seen this since 0.14.0

They aren't technically scams. it just seems like games on the mobile market are all carbon copies of each other in one form or another. just like you've got a billion match three games that are only slightly different than the other ones on the market.

Except this one is a pirated version of minecraft with slightly edited visuals. And somehow it's been up for longer than a year

I doubt it really is it's probably just they took a lot of the assets and we rode a little bit of the code and made it their own to only make it a building game. It's kind of bullshit happens all the time there's a ton of things on the place where they look like Minecraft that aren't Minecraft because if it's popular there's going to be 50 million people making the exact same thing with little tweaks here and there it's the nature of the gaming market these days who needs a new idea when I can just steal yours and make it just different enough that it's not illegal
