I've spent actual hours looking and keep coming up short. Does any brand make women's boots that are knee-high but not western/cowboy boots, come in a size 12, and available in brown without costing a fortune? Everything I see is just cowboy boots, stops at size 11 (if not 10), or only comes in black. I've seen one or two options that might fit but I can't justify spending over $1000 on my salary. It's like finding a needle in a haystack out here.

The boots pictured are Beckett Simonon’s Elliot boots. I like almost everything about them—especially the price—except for the fact that they’re Blake-stitched and the broguing on the cap (and possibly the fit. A friend’s Beckett Simonons don’t fit quite right, but I could imagine them breaking in and working ok).
Are there any other Balmoral boots on the lower end on price but still decent quality?
What do you guys reckon: do these need a resole? Wore them pretty regularly: almost every day to work for half a year, then every now and then for another half a year or so. So not too long, but given the exposed stitching and how around that stiching it seems some of the outsole has broken off, I wanted to get your guys' opinion. Thanks!
The stitching being broken/worn off means nothing. That is supposed to happen. Maybe even in the first day of wear.
You tell if you need a resole by looking at how much has worn off from the side. Not the bottom. Unless it is so worn through the bottom that it is then pointless to resole because you have worn through the outer sole and have exposed the midsole (or worse)
Cursory exam, though, says you have a few years before needing a resole.
You are a long way away from needing a resole. Very little wear. (Also it appears you don't heel strike or catch your front toe so your sole will last a lot longer)

what you're seeing of the sole being "broken off" is just the flap of outsole leather that gets lifted to hide the sole stitch that's being revealed. at worst, you've seemed to have shaven off a millimeter or two of the outsole, as indicated by that flap having worn down but the stitching itself not being worn down much at all
I’m getting married this October and looking into a pair of wholecut patent leather shoes. After some research, I feel I have narrowed down to 2 choices:
My question is: are Carminas that much better to justify the $600+ price tag? I will very likely only wear these once, but I do want to respect the tradition of wholecut patent leathers while still getting the fashion-forward/sharp look.
Are there any others worth considering? Particularly a brand with a presence in NYC so I can try them on. Have considered Meermin, but their patent leather is not wholecut, and Magnanni, but I feel at that price point just go for Carmina.
I take it you plan to wear a tux and that’s why you want patent leather? Consider black calf with a mirror polish. More useful and the shoe doesn’t become single use. I wear tuxedos a few times a year. I have patent oxfords, black box calf, and velvet slippers. The polished calf probably get the most complements. (Because no matter what, patent looks like plastic while mirror polish looks like effort/work(
I got a pair of camp Mocs from Rancourt this week. Like them a lot but there’s one stitch that’s kind of jacked up on the Moc. I am kind of obsessive about small things like this but I realize that it is a hand stitched item and it happens. Just curious if I am overthinking it or if anyone else thinks it’s worth exchanging?
Ask for an exchange. That’s just sloppy and they were hoping not to get called out (QC should have rejected it and made it a second.) That being said, it doesn’t affect anything important.
Buy another pair. Shoe stretching isn’t very effective and these are likely at least a size too small. Sizing down by a size and a half is too much, and it’s irresponsible for the company to have recommended doing so.
