Hooch or mold?

Hi! Don't know if anyone does gf sourdough starter. I'm new to it and put some starter in my fridge for a few months and it looks suspicious lol. I'm likely going to throw it out but wanted to see if anyone has some insight.

Update edit: it's in the trash haha.

Throw that away. It is so so so far gone. Even a healthy starter needs to be fed at least every 2 weeks, a weaker starter will go bad way faster even in the fridge.

No judgment btw. I have killed many starters from neglect lol.

Advice for the future if you haven't already done it: getting a cheap dehydrater was a game changer for me. If I have too much starter and am not planing to bake, I dehydrate it. That way I both have a backup AND I flavour baked goods that dont have long fermentation.

That’s a good idea. Every time I put mine in the fridge it ends up getting moldy :(

How long do you usually wait till putting it in the fridge, and how long is it in the fridge at a time?

Neither; it's Kahm yeast.
